Aamir Khan, a highly admired Indian actor, captivates audiences once more through his latest film “Sitaare Zameen Par”. In an exclusive interview with TopMob, he discussed the movie’s box office triumph, his daring choice to postpone the sale of its digital rights, and his passionate efforts to safeguard the enchantment of cinema.
Aamir Khan Shares Why He Thought Of Not Selling The Digital Rights Of His Movie Sitaare Zameen Par Before Release
When questioned about not selling the streaming rights for Sitaare Zameen Par before its premiere, Aamir Khan was candidly straightforward. “I’m more of an emotional person,” he chuckled, “I follow my instincts.” He clarified his decision to focus on theaters, highlighting that the current trend of releasing films on streaming platforms within four weeks after their South Indian release or eight weeks in Bollywood is causing harm to cinemas. “We’re essentially undermining the theater industry,” he stated.
Aamir, in a clear illustration, pointed to a nearby bottle. “Imagine being offered this bottle: ‘Buy it now or get it for free in eight weeks.’ Who would choose to pay?” he questioned, suggesting that this is one of the reasons the global theater industry is facing difficulties. For Aamir, there’s no comparison between the theater experience and watching at home. “Visualize 300-400 people laughing and crying together in a dark hall,” he described. “The excitement of shouting ‘Kachra! Kachra!’ with a crowd while watching Lagaan cannot be replicated when watching alone at home.” This is his rationale for the unique appeal of theater.

Aamir Khan Feels It Is Audience’s Responsibility To Support All Kinds Of Films And Not Just Action Films
Aamir emphasized that movie theaters aren’t limited to action flicks or extravagant productions; they cater to a wide range of narratives. He stated, “People appreciate stories, regardless of their kind.” However, he encouraged the audience to be mindful. “If you solely watch action films, that’s all filmmakers will produce. Consequently, you’ll only have action movies in theaters. If you enjoy various types of films and wish to see a variety, go to the theaters. Your patronage provides creators the liberty to narrate diverse tales,” PK actor Aamir clarified.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to emphasize that filmmakers encounter immense pressure from studios to conform to specific film genres. Yet, when audiences embrace and support distinctive narratives, it empowers us to express our creative passions honestly.
Aamir Khan Shares Why He Didn’t Immediately Start Work On An Action Film After The Debacle Of Laal Singh Chaddha
When asked about being suggested action roles after Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir mentioned that while many were pushing him towards such projects, it was the tender story of Sitaare Zameen Par that ultimately captivated him. “It’s such a moving narrative,” he expressed. He also reminisced about Taare Zameen Par, where there were doubts regarding his decision to create a film resembling a documentary on dyslexia and his limited presence in the first half. “I’ve always had to defend my convictions,” he said. “I follow my heart.” Aamir Khan summed up his thoughts.
