Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy will be appearing in the upcoming Amazon MGM romantic comedy titled “You Deserve Each Other“, which is adapted from the novel by Sarah Hogle.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the dynamic duo, Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, known for their enchanting work on romantic comedies like “Never Been Kissed” and “He’s Just Not That Into You”, are set to take the helm in directing this upcoming feature. Interestingly, they have also polished up an initial script penned by Brett Haley and Marc Basch.
As a gamer, I’m excited to be part of the gaming world where Fifth Season studio is developing the game “Each Other” in collaboration with Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron from Likely Story.
Titled as a tale of star-crossed lovers turning adversaries before rekindling their romance, the film Each Other focuses on Naomi and Nick, a seemingly perfect couple on the brink of matrimony, but secretly harboring a deep lack of love. As the wedding day draws near and the tension escalates, they each devise sneaky tactics – pranks, sabotage, and emotional battles – to manipulate the other into canceling the ceremony. However, rest assured, their journey leads them back to each other with renewed affection.
The book was nominated twice for the Goodreads Choice Awards, in the categories of Best Romance and Best Debut, and it was also chosen as Amazon Editor’s Pick for Best Romance. It was published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons, an imprint of Penguin, in 2020.
Kohn and Silverstein are renowned for writing romantic comedies. Their portfolio encompasses films like “The Vow” with Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, as well as “How to Be Single,” starring Rebel Wilson and Dakota Johnson. They’ve also written hits such as “He’s Just Not That Into You” and the ’90s favorite “Never Been Kissed.” Their directorial debut was the 2018 Amy Schumer comedy, “I Feel Pretty.
Badgley gained prominence as a key actor on the CW’s show “Gossip Girl.” Later, he transformed his career and received recognition for his extended starring role in the globally successful Netflix series “You,” which he also produced. Among his film roles are “Margin Call,” for which he won an Indie Spirit Award, and “Easy A” alongside Emma Stone.
Fahy gained significant recognition for her standout performance in the second season of HBO’s “The White Lotus,” a role that garnered an Emmy nomination and a SAG Award. This year, she has been quite busy with the February release of the thriller “Drop” directed by Christopher Landon, and she is currently starring alongside Milly Alcock and Julianne Moore in “Sirens” on Netflix. Up next for her is the drama “Rebuilding,” where she will share the screen with Josh O’Connor. This project initially premiered at Sundance and is set to hit theaters later this year.
Badgley’s talent representation is handled by CAA, Brillstein, and Hansen Jacobson, whereas Fahy is managed by WME, Anonymous, and Sloane Offer.
