Adrian Grenier Isn’t Returning for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’

The upcoming continuation of the popular movie “The Devil Wears Prada” (2006) is moving forward, however, a character from the original film will not reappear in this sequel.

On Monday, it was revealed on social platforms that the production of the movie commences this week. The shooting locations are New York and Italy. Actors reprising their roles from the initial film include Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. Additionally, Kenneth Branagh has been added to the cast for the sequel. Conversely, Adrian Grenier, who portrayed Hathaway’s character’s boyfriend, Nate, in the first movie, will not be part of the second installment as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The 2006 film, titled similarly with its source material, revolves around Andy Sachs, a fresh graduate, who takes on the role as an assistant for Miranda Priestly, the powerful editor-in-chief at a high-end fashion magazine known as “Runway.” Nate (Grenier), frequently voices his discontent over her busy work schedule and criticizes her career in fashion. This eventually leads to their separation.

Towards the conclusion of the film, Andy decides to abandon his career in fashion journalism to join a newspaper instead. The audience witnesses a heartwarming reconciliation between Andy and Nate, indicating their friendship is strong once more. This led many viewers to speculate if the star of ‘Entourage’ would rejoin the cast as well.

In the upcoming movie, it’s been said that the storyline revolves around Priestley facing challenges in print magazines. Interestingly, her previous assistant, Emily (played by Blunt), has moved on to become a powerful advertising executive at Runway. Branagh takes up the role of Priestly’s husband, while Tucci reappears as Nigel, who is the art director at Runway.

The sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada,” titled “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” is set to premiere in theaters on May 1, 2026. Here’s an update that the filming has started.
