What The Ironheart Post-Credits Scene Means For Marvel’s Future

Contains spoilers for the “Ironheart” season finale — “The Past is the Past”

In their review of “Ironheart”, Looper highlights the series’ abundant drama and hints at an exciting future for the lead character. Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) seems to strike a deal with Mephisto (Sacha Baron Cohen), a figure fans have long anticipated would appear in some capacity within the show. The motives of Mephisto are still unclear, but Riri appears content as long as she can resurrect her friend Natalie (Lyric Ross). Riri’s storyline concludes at this point, but viewers should stay tuned after the credits for a bonus scene that foreshadows more enchanting journeys within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During the intermission scene, Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos), instead of his usual hood, dons a hoodie. He goes to see Zelma Stanton (Regan Aliyah), who is known for her magic abilities. After she magically transforms some sweets, he brings up seeking “help similar to the Supreme,” implying he’s searching for Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) since he has lost the Hood given by Mephisto. For now, Zelma will have to suffice. Parker inquires if someone more knowledgeable could show him things hidden at the back of the store. This hints that Zelma and her mother Madeleine (Cree Summer) may possess additional magical items elsewhere in the shop.

The atmosphere seems deliberately ambiguous, suggesting that Marvel might not have fully decided on how to incorporate characters such as Parker and Zelma in upcoming MCU ventures at this point. However, it gives the impression of laying groundwork for a possible team-up between these two characters, potentially if “Ironheart” gets another season in the future.

Could Parker Robbins and Zelma Stanton appear in Doctor Strange 3?

Marvel currently has several projects in development simultaneously. The Multiverse Saga is nearing its conclusion with “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” set for release in 2026 and 2027 respectively, boasting impressive casts. It’s unlikely that Tom Holland (Peter Parker) and Zelma O’Neal will appear in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” or “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2. However, there is a possibility they could feature in another Marvel project, but it’s not definite. This potential appearance is quite uncertain.

There’s no official confirmation as of now, but there are whispers that “Doctor Strange 3” might slot into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) timeline somewhere between “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars.” This placement could allow for setting up certain aspects of the Multiverse, such as the concept of incursions causing destruction across various realities. Since Clea was seen assisting Strange in dealing with an incursion at the end of “Multiverse of Madness,” it seems logical that this third Doctor Strange film would take place between those two significant events.

It remains uncertain what Zelma is concealing in her possession that has piqued Parker’s interest, but it seems to potentially involve the Multiverse, possibly making him a formidable adversary worthy of Doctor Strange’s attention. This potential conflict between the two could unfold even though they have quite distinct relationships with Strange in the comics. In the comics, Zelma serves as his apprentice, while Parker attempts to kill Strange during the “Dark Reign” storyline under Dormammu’s influence. Although it seems unlikely for these characters to reappear in any Marvel project, stranger things have happened.
