As a passionate fan, I can hardly contain my excitement for the third season of Marvel Rivals! The addition of characters like Phoenix and Blade promises an even more thrilling experience. And with a major symbiote theme, things are shaping up to be truly epic. But what really has us fans buzzing is the news that NetEase Games might be bringing this multiplayer shooter to the Nintendo Switch 2. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
According to Weicong Wu, producer of Rivals, they have been communicating with Nintendo about the possibility of bringing their superhero shooter game to the hybrid console. Wu also mentioned that they are simply waiting for the new system’s development tools to become available so they can begin adapting the game for this platform. While this doesn’t mean a port is definitely happening, it does suggest that the process may be underway.
Given Nintendo’s openness towards incorporating Marvel games onto their platform, Marvel Rivals seems ideally suited for their handheld device. Following the success of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 on the original Switch, Rivals could further strengthen that bond. Moreover, this decision would make the Switch 2 a viable competitor to PS5 and Xbox Series, as these systems handle shooter games like Rivals quite smoothly.
Having a game like Rivals, a competitive multiplayer shooter, on the upcoming Switch 2, would give it a more “mature” image among competitive gamers. While Nintendo is often associated with characters like Mario and Donkey Kong, adding more games like Rivals would make the console more appealing to a wider range of gamers. The arrival of Call of Duty on the Switch 2, courtesy of Activision Blizzard, will also contribute to this maturity factor when it becomes available in the near future.
It’d be great if Marvel Rivals had cross-progression ready by the time it arrives on Nintendo’s latest console. Many game enthusiasts have already bought several skins and Battle Passes, so they’d prefer to carry over all of their purchases. NetEase mentioned that they were developing this feature, but there haven’t been any updates since then.
