Jurassic World: Reborn” is predicted to earn approximately $28 million on its first day domestically, ranking among the top 20 highest Wednesday grosses ever recorded. This estimated five-day debut could reach around $127.5 million. The film premiered on July 2 in North America, timing it with the extended Fourth of July holiday period. Additionally, it’s set to open nearly everywhere internationally, forecasting a global opening north of $250 million.
The seventh part of the action-adventure series produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Productions and Universal introduces a fresh cast headed by Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey.
So far, Jurassic World Rebirth is performing on the higher end of expectations.
In the movie titled “Rebirth,” director Gareth Edwards, who previously worked on “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” works from a script by David Koepp, the original writer of “Jurassic Park.” The plot revolves around a team trying to retrieve information from an island research facility that was significant in the story of Jurassic Park. During their journey, they stumble upon a wrecked family’s remains. Now, the island is populated by the most dangerous creatures left behind after the original events.
The cast includes Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda, with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley serving as producers, while Steven Spielberg and Denis Stewart oversee as executive producers.
The first three movies in the Jurassic World series, each forming its own trilogy, earned over $1 billion worldwide and all had a higher domestic opening than Rebirth. At the same time, the most recent film was produced at a lower cost of around $225 million before marketing expenses. In 2015, Jurassic World opened to a record-breaking $208.8 million, followed by $148 million for 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and $145 million for 2022’s Jurassic World: Dominion (all figures represent three-day openings).
In the early summer of 1993, the original “Jurassic Park,” which was helmed by Spielberg, earned approximately $47 million within U.S. borders without taking inflation into account – an impressive amount of money for that era.
Steven Spielberg plays an active role in the creation of every Jurassic Park movie, and he was especially hands-on with the production of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, as it lays the groundwork for future films in the series.
Over the upcoming holiday break, you might also want to check out “F1: The Movie,” starring Brad Pitt. It’s entering its second weekend in theaters following a domestic opening of $57 million, a remarkable figure for a film focusing on Formula One racing.
