Mark Snow, ‘The X-Files’ Theme Song Composer, Dies at 78

Mark Snow, who created the cherished tune for the hit TV series The X-Files, has passed away at the age of 78. He received an Emmy nomination for his work.

It was confirmed by a representative that Snow passed away at his home in Connecticut on Friday, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Sean Callery, a fellow composer and friend of Snow’s, also announced his death on Facebook.

Mark Snow, one of the most remarkable and gifted individuals I’ve encountered, has sadly passed away. Thirty-three years ago, he started guiding me as an artist. Little did I know that this was also the beginning of a profound friendship spanning three decades, which would parallel our graying hair and increasingly tight deadlines.

Callery went on saying, “I am deeply thankful for his wise advice and his humor that would make anyone laugh and wince simultaneously. My career took off thanks to a kind gesture of his 33 years ago – point made, end of story. I adore you, my friend. No one will ever be able to replace you again. Sending love to Glynnis and all his family members during this period.

Mark Snow is well-known for penning the memorable main theme for the hit show, The X-Files. Throughout its entire run, from 1993 to its conclusion in 2018, he contributed his musical talents to the crime drama series.

During his time on The X-Files, he not only created the theme tune but also handled the music for the entire series, receiving six Emmy nominations. Similarly, Snow was responsible for composing the music for the 1998 X-Files film titled simply, The X Files.
