Halsey’s Dark Comedy Series Just Got a Whole Lot Darker

Learning that Ti West is helming an episode of Rian Johnson’s murder mystery series “Poker Face” only serves to boost my anticipation for his upcoming dark comedy show penned by a renowned pop music icon. Notably, West has garnered critical acclaim for his horror films “X” and “Pearl.” At present, he is busy collaborating on the new series with Amazon.

As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share my thoughts on the latest episode of “Poker Face” season 2. This time around, the mastermind behind the chilling “V/H/S” and the recent dystopian sci-fi series “Tales from the Loop”, Adam Wingard, stepped back into the director’s chair for the first time since 2020. The episode, which aired recently, boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Natasha Lyonne, Justin Theroux, Hayley Joel Osment, and several other talented actors. The result is a gripping, edge-of-your-seat episode that’s not to be missed!

Ti West Directing A Poker Face Episode Sets Up His Upcoming Dark Comedy Show With Halsey

West Will Direct Amazon’s Dark Comedy Series Bloodlust Written By Halsey

Ti West taking charge of an episode in Rian Johnson’s “Poker Face” offers a promising lead-up to his upcoming Amazon series “Bloodlust,” penned by singer and songwriter Halsey. Though specifics about “Bloodlust” are yet to be revealed, it’s known that Halsey will write but not act in the dark comedy series, with West slated for directing duties.

Despite Halsey, known by her full name Ashley Frangipane, having acting credentials, she won’t star in the series “Bloodlust”. Instead, she is set to assume roles as creator, writer, and executive producer. Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for “Bloodlust”, but Mark Friedman, renowned from “Severance”, will oversee the show as its showrunner.

Poker Face is a weekly murder-mystery series with a touch of dark humor. While it’s not a traditional horror show, its atmosphere and intricate plot twists are reminiscent of something Charles West might appreciate. The violent scenes in Poker Face season 2, episode 11, seem to bear the mark of an accomplished horror genre writer.

In my latest critique as a movie enthusiast, I’d like to highlight that Hip Hop maestro Kanye West has recently taken the helm for the captivating short film titled “Neverland,” featuring none other than Kid Cudi and Hayley Joel Osment. Interestingly enough, you might recognize Osment from her appearance in episode 11 of season 2 of “Poker Face.” Furthermore, it’s worth noting that Cudi didn’t just star in this production; he also lent his creative talents to co-write the screenplay. This collaboration marks a significant trend for West, as he continues to team up with musical artists to craft compelling visual narratives.

Amazon’s Bloodlust Won’t Be The First Time Ti West & Halsey Have Worked Together

Halsey Appeared In Last Year’s MaXXXine & Has Been Acting Since 2016

Halsey is set to introduce herself as a screenwriter with the movie “Bloodlust,” but she has previously been featured in one of West’s films, titled “MaXXXine” which will be released in 2024. In this film, Halsey portrays Tabby Martin, an exotic dancer. Earlier, she made her first appearance on the big screen in the 2018 film “A Star is Born,” where she played a version of herself.

Halsey initially stepped into television acting approximately a decade back, starring in two episodes of the drama series “Roadies”. Since then, she has graced the screens in movies like “Sing 2” and “Americana”, as well as shows such as “American Dad!”. Her upcoming project with director Ti West, following his “Poker Face” episode, seems highly intriguing given the dramatic nature of her albums, particularly “Manic”.
