Nicole Kidman’s Shocking ‘White Lotus’ Rival Breaks Streaming Records Despite Backlash

She’s no novice when it comes to television series; her successful stints on “Big Little Lies” and “The Undoing” have only added to her repertoire, which now includes further roles.

The series, titled “Nine Perfect Strangers,” was initially planned as a limited one due to its origin from Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name, “Big Little Lies.” However, given the success of “Nine Perfect Strangers” among Hulu’s original content, they chose to renew it and resemble “The White Lotus,” transforming it into an anthology. Despite mixed reception, the second season of “Nine Perfect Strangers” has gained popularity on streaming platforms after its finale, climbing up the charts. (Source: Variety)

In the second season of “Nine Perfect Strangers,” which began airing on May 21st, a total of eight episodes were presented, identical to the first season. This new season premiered with a double episode and continued to release one episode each week until its grand finale on July 2nd. Interestingly, “Nine Perfect Strangers” climbed up the rankings on Prime Video to third place, trailing closely behind two other shows. Additionally, it found itself in fourth position in the Hulu charts.

In the first season, inspired by the original novel, we follow Masha Dmitrichenko, a Russian pioneer who established Tranquillum House, a wellness center. This sanctuary was nestled in the fictional town of Cabrillo, California. As suggested by its name, it catered to nine individuals, each grappling with distinct personal issues. However, the narrative takes an intriguing twist when these guests come to understand that Masha’s healing methods are unconventional and may lead them to confront aspects of their lives they hadn’t anticipated.

At the culmination of Season 1, Masha was apprehended; however, the final shot reveals her cruising off in a sunny convertible. In Season 2, Masha reappeared with some alterations. The fresh chapter transported Masha to a different setting and introduced a group of well-known personalities, while also offering additional psychological puzzles.

As a movie enthusiast, let me share my thoughts on the second season of this captivating series. Just like the first, it boasts an impressive roster of talent including Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Regina Hall, Bobby Cannavale, Manny Jacinto, and Samara Weaving. Much like HBO’s The White Lotus, season 2 doesn’t shy away from attracting big names. Murray Bartlett, who graced our screens in the first season, returns, accompanied by Christine Baranski, Henry Golding, Annie Murphy, Mark Strong, and Lena Olin. Each episode promises a riveting experience as these stars bring their A-game to the table.

Nine Perfect Strangers Had Mixed Reviews

Despite achieving success with “Big Little Lies,” Nicole Kidman’s latest series, “Nine Perfect Strangers,” didn’t replicate that success. Both critics and viewers have been in agreement, giving it unfavorable ratings, with a 52% score from critics and a 51% rating from the audience.

In Season 1 of “Nine Perfect Strangers”, the criticism rating stood at 59%, earning it a “rotten” label, while the audience rating was 60%, barely qualifying as positive. On the other hand, both the critical and audience ratings for Season 2 were lower: 46% from critics and 41% from viewers respectively.

Nine Perfect Strangers is streaming on Prime Video.
