“Definitely did.”
When asked if she watched the Scream series again following her casting in the upcoming seventh film, Anna Camp stated that it will be “extremely exciting” for viewers, similar to the feeling she had while working on it, and that it is scheduled to hit theaters on February 27, 2026.
I’ve only seen the initial installment multiple times, but I haven’t caught up with the newer versions yet,” Camp shared with The Hollywood Reporter during the Mediterrane Film Festival’s Golden Bee Awards in Malta last Sunday. “The later movies required me to intentionally set aside time to watch them. It’s simply enjoyable. This new one promises to be exceptional because it revolves around Sidney Prescott, a legendary character, and Neve Campbell, a renowned actress. It’s essentially a homecoming for her. It’s about reuniting the original cast and sticking with the original concept.
Inquired about the insights gained from observing Campbell work on the latest Scream installment, Campbell remarked that she picked up on her innate abilities and effective interaction with Kevin Williamson, who returned to pen and direct Scream 7 after creating the hit franchise many years ago. “This role feels incredibly personal for her,” Campbell stated. “She can sense when the script isn’t authentic or if something seems out of character for Sidney.
The camp expressed: “Kevin Williamson was the director of this piece, and he’s the brains behind the whole narrative. Watching them interact and their shared understanding made me think, ‘I desire that connection. I yearn for a professional bond like that with a director.’
Discussing romantic connections, Camp arrived in Malta accompanied by her latest partner, Jade Whipkey. They made their relationship public for the first time at the recent screening of “Bride Hard“.
Camp admitted that the attention surrounding their relationship and the age difference has been quite a challenge. At 42, he’s older than Whipkey at 24, and being open about his sexuality later in life is tough enough. Add to that the public scrutiny and spotlight, and it’s a whole new ball game. The discussions about their age gap have been intense, making it all quite a load to handle. However, he’s learned the importance of living honestly as himself. In truth, he’s never been more content, and the positive responses far outweigh the negative ones. Despite the overwhelming nature of it all, he feels liberated and extremely joyful.
Camp mentioned that she and Whipkey have been in a relationship for around seven months, and their visit to Malta was their first significant joint trip. “We’ve been absolutely enjoying ourselves,” she shared. When asked if she received encouraging messages from unexpected sources, she disclosed that an Olympic medalist sent a message saying, “Ignore all the negative voices.
She confided that her current relationship involved a significant age difference, with her being the younger partner. She described it as the most rewarding relationship she’s ever had. She advised, ‘Disregard any of that noise.’ I replied appreciatively, ‘I appreciate your insight.’
In terms of her professional life, Camp expressed her eagerness to return to the stage and take on a play or musical role, while also preparing for several movies she’s producing independently. She mentioned, “I’ve already booked a project that’s currently being written,” and added, “Scream 7 is due out in February, and I have a few small independent films coming up. I’m not just waiting for opportunities to come my way; I’m actively producing around three scripts on my own at the moment. It’s an exciting time as I’m not only staying busy but also taking charge of my own projects.
