The renowned Academy Award-winner, Kenneth Branagh, and the Academy Award-nominated actress, Lily Gladstone, have been added to the cast alongside Michael B. Jordan for Amazon’s modern adaptation of the classic story “The Thomas Crown Affair.
Moreover, Charles Roven is joining the production team for the movie through his Atlas Entertainment label. Notably, this seasoned producer was responsible for the recent reboot of “Road House” for the same studio last year.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement knowing that Jordan himself will leave indelible marks on the upcoming heist movie. Not only will he be starring in it, but he’ll be directing and producing it under his Outlier Society banner. Even more thrilling is the fact that Elizabeth Raposo from our beloved company is also involved as a producer. This promise of a spectacular show is truly a dream come true for us fans!
Production begins this week in London.
Originally, the movie “Thomas Crown” produced by United Artists in 1968 featured Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. This film centered around a man who orchestrates bank heists for amusement, but complications arise when he encounters a formidable opponent in the insurance investigator chasing him. The remake from 1999 showcased Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo instead.
Reports indicate that the story’s setting this time is in Europe, maintaining the central theme of art theft.
Taylor Russell has been cast as a smooth, enigmatic private investigator. The specifics about the characters Gladstone and Branagh are being closely guarded.
Amazon MGM has set a March 5, 2027 theatrical release for the romantic thriller.
I’m thrilled to share that I stepped in to pen the screenplay for the latest adaptation of Thomas Crown, building upon an earlier draft penned by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. Their work was inspired by the original movie, making my role a fascinating continuation of its storytelling journey.
Alongside Patrick McCormick and Toberoff Productions’ Marc Toberoff, both serving as producers, there’s also Alan Trustman on board, known for writing the original 1968 movie, taking up the role of executive producer.
2022 saw Kenneth Branagh win an Oscar for the original screenplay of his personal drama film, “Belfast.” This achievement also garnered him nominations for directing and best picture. With five previous Oscar nominations, this was not his first time in the running. As an actor, he recently featured in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” and you can catch him next sharing the screen with Ryan Reynolds in “Mayday.
In a remarkable achievement, a Native American actress made history as the first to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. This milestone was earned through her exceptional performance alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s film “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Her role also brought her several other prestigious awards, including the 2023 Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture, the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, and both the Best Actress of 2023 awards from the New York Film Critics Circle and The National Board of Review.
Gladstone garnered recognition for her performance in the Hulu limited series “Under The Bridge“, which earned her several award nominations, including an Emmy, SAG, and Indie Spirit Award nominations. Now, you can catch her in Andrew Ahn’s “The Wedding Banquet” for Bleecker Street.
Gladstone is represented by the agencies IAG, Authentic, and McKuin Frankel, whereas Branagh is managed by WME, Berwick & Kovacik, and the Gochman Law Group.
