As a seasoned crypto investor with over a decade of experience in this dynamic industry, I can confidently say that Q4 2024 is shaping up to be an exciting time for blockchain and Web 3 developers. The upcoming hackathons are not just about winning prizes; they offer unique opportunities for learning, collaboration, and real-world impact.
For Q4 2024, here’s a list of exciting blockchain and Web 3 developer competitions that have generated significant anticipation.
As the year winds down, various crypto communities are organizing coding competitions and hackathons, offering generous prizes for successful participants and teams. Events such as ETHGlobal’s ETHOnline hackathon, the European Blockchain Convention’s EBC Hackathon, and Africa’s largest ETH-focused conference, ETH Safari, are bringing communities together to foster blockchain development, education, and innovation through hackathons.
Here, we delve into a variety of forthcoming blockchain-related competitions, providing insights on how to get involved and the prizes for top performers. These events are organized by Ethereum groups, Solana networks, and a wide range of other blockchain-focused communities.
Top Hackathons to Attend Heading to December 2024
ETHOnline
Under the auspices of ETHGlobal, the ETHOnline 2024 event is an asynchronous hackathon that unites various Ethereum-focused companies and projects, offering developers a platform to compete for significant awards and funding opportunities. Commencing on August 23, 2024, this hackathon will continue until September 13, 2024.
As a crypto investor, I’m excited to share that an upcoming event boasts more than 20 collaborators, each hosting a mini-hackathon, with a combined prize pool of $225,000! Notably, SSV Network is one of these partners, conducting their hackathon for a three-week span from August 23 to September 13. This competition offers a shared $10,000 reward among the top two teams in three distinct categories or “tracks.” The winning developers will be recognized for their creativity in building a staking application using SSV Network’s tools, those with the most innovative uses of SSV data, and the best community onboarding systems.
Apart from ETHOnline, there are several other collaborating entities such as Chainlink, Hedera, Phénix, Avail Network, Morph, and Nethermind, along with a few more.
EBC Hackathon
The European Blockchain Convention (EBC) is set to launch its second hackathon event, inviting Europe’s top developers to collaborate and learn from one another. This year, the competition will take place in Barcelona, Spain, from September 25th to the 26th. The convention anticipates a massive turnout with approximately 6,000 attendees and 250 expert speakers joining the event.
The hackathon intends to offer developers a place to learn from seasoned professionals in the field, network with like-minded individuals, acquire hands-on experience to boost their careers within Web 3, and collaborate with fellow multidisciplinary developers. Additionally, participants will have the chance to present their concepts and abilities, as well as access mentorship programs from proficient developers.
The EBC Hackathon offers an opportunity for individuals to attend at no cost, where they can expand their understanding of Web 3 technology, connect with fellow professionals, participate in exciting live events, create technical projects, and create lasting memories.
- ETH Safari
Labeled as Africa’s biggest Web 3 gathering, ETH Safari is an annual event that takes place in the coastal cities of Kenya, uniting thousands of Ethereum enthusiasts from across the globe. Kicking off with a hackathon, which will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from September 8th to 12th, 2024, this year’s conference boasts a variety of collaborators such as AVa Labs, Internet Computer Protocol, Lisk, Optimism, Starkware, Base, and UTU, among others.
As an analyst, I am thrilled to be part of this year’s ETHSafari hackathon, a platform designed to foster education and advancement for Web 3 developers, with a shared vision of constructing superior decentralized projects and groundbreaking innovations tailored to African communities. Essentially, the goal is to promote marketing and innovation that fosters prosperity.
The announcement of winners is scheduled for the principal conference on September 15th, 2024, where participants may have an opportunity to secure grants and additional prizes.
Final words
Looking forward to the last quarter of 2024, it’s an exhilarating time for me as a crypto investor, offering a one-of-a-kind chance. This period seems ripe for developers, pioneers, and fellow enthusiasts in the blockchain realm to collaborate, explore the frontiers of Web 3 tech, and bring forth impactful projects that could shape our digital future.
Regardless of whether you’re joining the ETHOnline hackathon, networking at the EBC Hackathon in Europe, or making a difference in Africa through ETH Safari, these events offer much more than just rewards. They serve as venues for learning, teamwork, and practical applications. As the year comes to an end, don’t forget to connect with these communities, demonstrate your talents, and contribute to the continually advancing blockchain environment.
