A fragment design x ‘Gundam’ Collaboration Is Coming

As a lifelong Gundam fan who has seen the evolution of this iconic franchise for over four decades now, I can confidently say that the collaboration between Hiroshi Fujiwara and Gundam is nothing short of a dream come true. The legendary designer’s unique aesthetic blended with the timeless appeal of Mobile Suit Gundam promises to deliver something truly special.

This iconic mecha series, “Gundam”, is marking its 45th anniversary this year and has been leveraging this milestone by partnering with various collaborators. Some of these partnerships have resulted in projects like a Levi’s collaboration based on “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED” or Crocs and CASETiFY offering RX-78-2 themed products. As the year draws to a close, another announcement has fans buzzing with curiosity.

Hiroshi Fujiwara, creator of the well-known label fragment design, shared on Instagram about a new collaboration named “GUNDAM45FRGMT”, focusing on the Mobile Suit Gundam theme. According to the Gundam website, this partnership will bring forth items with unique designs, overseen by Hiroshi Fujiwara, and they will be rolled out progressively. Additionally, it was announced that “GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE -FINAL-” will take place in Tokyo and Osaka during February and April of 2025. Merchandise from the fragment design collaboration will be available at both events.

As I write this, neither Hiroshi Fujiwara nor Gundam have given us a sneak peek into what their collaboration entails. Keep an eye out for news in the coming days as we approach the conclusion of Gundam’s 45th anniversary celebration.
