A New American Psycho Movie Has Been Announced, And I’m Jazzed About The Director Who’s Being Lined Up To Helm It

As a film enthusiast who’s seen my fair share of psycho-thrillers and has had the pleasure of witnessing Christian Bale’s chilling portrayal of Patrick Bateman, I’m absolutely ecstatic about Luca Guadagnino stepping into the director’s chair for the new adaptation of “American Psycho“. Having directed masterpieces like “Call Me By Your Name” and “A Bigger Splash”, I have no doubt that he’ll bring a unique, captivating vision to this dark tale.

Prior to being selected as Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, Christian Bale was most famously recognized for his role as serial killer Patrick Bateman in the movie adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel American Psycho, directed by Mary Harron. This film received mixed reactions upon its release in 2000, but it has since gained a dedicated fanbase. It’s exciting to learn that the book is being adapted for the big screen again, with Luca Guadagnino rumored to direct it.

It has been revealed that discussions are at their final stages between Lionsgate and the director of ‘Call Me by Your Name’ and ‘Challengers’, regarding him directing the latest adaptation of ‘American Psycho’. The project, produced by Frenesy Films, is not a reboot of Christian Bale’s ‘American Psycho’, but instead, a fresh take on the original novel. This could suggest that the new version will closely follow the source material, as suggested by Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, in his statement.

We’re excited to welcome another top-tier director to our lineup in the near future. Luca, with his exceptional talent, is an ideal choice to offer a fresh perspective on this powerful and timeless intellectual property.

More to come…
