A Parkgoer Just Made A Gross Claim About Disneyland's Popular Halloween Bash, And It's A Good Thing People Are Paying For More Than Just The Snacks

As someone who has been a dedicated Disneyland enthusiast for over two decades, I must say that the Oogie Boogie Bash is always a highlight of my Halloween season. Last year, I was thrilled with the unique entertainment and shorter lines at the attractions, not to mention the abundance of treats! However, this year, it seems there may be some “tricks” among the treats.

At Halloween, Disneyland transforms into a festive hotspot, with the nighttime event, Oogie Boogie Bash, being one of the most highly anticipated annual events at the resort. For a number of evenings in September and October, visitors to Disney California Adventure are treated to exclusive entertainment and shorter wait times for attractions. Additionally, costume guidelines become more relaxed during this period. As expected, given it’s Halloween, there are ample sweet treats on offer. However, it seems that some mischief may be lurking amidst the fun at Oogie Boogie.

A significant attraction at the Oogie Boogie Bash lies in the Treat Trails, which are scattered across Disney California Adventure. Here, visitors can collect sweets and other treats while encountering various Disney villains, many of whom seldom appear in theme parks. For instance, only at this event can you come across a zombified Captain America! However, attendees this season have pointed out an unusual issue with some of the treats – they seem to be past their best quality, as one user on social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) pointed out.

As a gamer, I’ve learned that just like video game items, real-life food has an expiration date too. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s “expired,” but beyond a certain point, its taste and quality can start to dwindle. It seems like some of the food at Disneyland Resort might be leftover from last year’s event or could potentially be older stock that the supplier is trying to offload, given the theme park setting.

As a loyal fan, I can’t help but admit that Goldfish Crackers seem indestructible, even surviving a hypothetical nuclear blast. So, it leaves me wondering if the “best-by” date really matters all that much. However, it feels odd to receive what appears to be suboptimal quality snacks at Disneyland, a place known for its exceptional experiences. Yet, it seems this concern wasn’t high on their priority list, as many visitors have shared similar stories.

Last year, I attended the Oogie Boogie Bash, and while the amount of candy was satisfying for my sweet cravings, there are far more compelling reasons to be there. The star attractions are the characters on the treat trails, and although collecting candy is part of it, it’s not strictly necessary. Some characters can be found without candy, and you even have the option to bypass the food entirely. Additionally, non-candy items are kept separate from the sweets, so if you prefer to avoid stale crackers, that’s easy to do.

Besides the main attractions, Disney Parks offer additional evening activities, known as After Hours events, filled with exciting sights and entertainment. During these special nights, you can enjoy an exclusive parade and stunning decorations, plus a variety of unique food options available exclusively at various restaurants and quick service locations. The best part is that everything is freshly prepared on the spot, so nothing will be outdated or stale.
