Based on Philipp Meyer’s 2009 novel “American Rust,” the 2021 television series of the same name featured Jeff Daniels portraying the police chief in a Pennsylvania Rust Belt town. Maura Tierney, David Alvarez, Alex Neustaedter, and Luna Lauren Velez were among the other stars.
