The sequel to A Simple Favor will not include a return appearance for Ryan Reynolds‘ gin brand.
Director Paul Feig, known for films like ‘Another Simple Favor’ and the 2018 original, has revealed that Aviation gin won’t make an appearance in the upcoming sequel to be streamed on Prime Video starting May 1. Instead, Feig’s own spirit brand, Artingstall’s Brilliant London Dry Gin, which he launched in 2020, will be featured in the new film. Stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick return in ‘Another Simple Favor’.
As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “Aviation’s days are done, Artingstall’s the star now, all day, every day. Prideful of my gaming gear, it seamlessly slots in, never feels out of place.
Feig added, “There’s never a shortage of martinis in any of my movies.”
In the movie “A Simple Favor”, characters Emily (Lively) and Stephanie (Kendrick) grow closer as Emily mixes martinis with Aviation gin. The director shared in 2018 with Cosmopolitan that he initially wanted to promote a different gin brand for the initial film, but Lively recommended Aviation. Feig stated that he wouldn’t have made this choice if he didn’t think it looked good on screen, and he genuinely thought the bottle looked amazing.
Recently, Lively’s latest movie was “It Ends With Us” by Sony, which premiered in August and grossed over $350 million worldwide. However, this project has been at the heart of a heated controversy due to the ongoing legal dispute between Lively and director-co-star Justin Baldoni.
Lately, Feig has backed Lively on social platforms, as the director came to her defense earlier this month following an Instagram user’s suggestion that the actress might have sought too much influence over “A Simple Favor 2“. “Blake has been nothing short of supportive and a joy to collaborate with,” Feig shared previously. “She is exceptional and a fantastic team player, and I am her biggest admirer.
