The former sister-in-law of Endeavor’s chairman, Patrick Whitesell, has been having discussions in various places about creating a TV series inspired by her own experiences. However, there is no need for the Whitesell brothers to be concerned as none of them are involved in this project.
Rather than focusing on her past marriage to TV writer Chris Whitesell in the 1980s, Iranian-born Ladan Rafii, aged 64, is developing a series centered around her experiences as a political, legal, and civil affairs officer at the UN during the late 1970s and early 1980s, following the downfall of the Shah. She describes this period as a perilous journey that took her to various parts of the world, including Hong Kong (where she was involved in a taxi cab chase that ended with gunfire), near Washington D.C. (where one of her uncles was brutally murdered by Iranian agents), Teheran (where another relative met a tragic end), as well as Paris, Geneva, New York, and numerous other captivating destinations.
Rafii describes a story centered around a woman who triumphs over personal struggles amidst the fallout of a revolution in her native land. It’s about the experience of being displaced and beginning anew in a foreign country with no advantages, eventually landing a role at the UN and being dispatched to challenging post-conflict, post-genocide locations. She faces dangerous situations and endures family losses, with an unbelievable number of deaths taking place.
Absolutely, similar to many captivating global mysteries, Rafii’s tale certainly incorporates a few unexpected romantic developments. However, it’s important to note that no characters from a prominent entertainment family, the Whitesells, will feature in these romantic aspects. She assures us that neither they nor their names will appear in her story at all.
