Despite participating in several film festivals in 2024, “On Becoming a Guinea Fowl” is set for U.S. release on March 7, 2025. However, when she stumbles upon an orphaned baby ochi, the girl embarks on a journey to return it to its kin. This enchanting tale seems reminiscent of “Okja” intertwined with elements of “Gremlins”. The baby ochi resembles Gizmo from the “Gremlins” series. “The Legend of Ochi” marks the feature film debut of Isaiah Saxon, featuring some well-known stars such as Finn Wolfhard, Emily Watson, and Willem Dafoe, who has garnered attention from A24 productions.

The movie titled “The Legend of Ochi” made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2025. However, its initial release date on February 28, 2025 was postponed due to the devastating wildfires in Southern California that sadly destroyed the director’s home. The new US release date for this film is now set for April 25, 2025. Featuring breathtaking landscapes, stunning cinematography, and meticulously crafted computer-generated imagery, “The Legend of Ochi” promises to be an unforgettable and enchanting journey.

The film wasn’t made by A24, but they did secure the U.S. distribution rights, allowing it to be featured on our list. This movie chronicles a man’s efforts to safeguard his family’s peace and security when a new neighbor arrives, disrupting his tranquil lifestyle.

This might seem like a plot for a horror flick, but ‘Friendship’ is actually a comedy. The cast includes Tim Robinson, Paul Rudd, and Kate Mara, with Andrew DeYoung making his directorial debut. Although the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024, it won’t hit theaters until May 2025.

This sports drama is a creation of Josh Safdie, renowned for his direction in “Uncut Gems” featuring Adam Sandler. The plot revolves around the life of professional table tennis player Marty Reisman, presented in a fictionalized manner.

In the lead role, we have Timothée Chalamet, currently Hollywood’s most prominent star, who is also involved in co-producing the movie. The cast includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler, the Creator, Kevin O’Leary from “Shark Tank”, and Fran Drescher as well.

Just like Timothée Chalamet’s previous movie, “Marty Supreme” is scheduled for release on Christmas and is likely to generate a lot of attention from the Oscars as we approach 2026.

‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’

A comedy-drama titled “If I Could Walk, I’d Kick You” explores the life of a woman dealing with various personal challenges, such as her absent husband and an ailing child. The film features Rose Byrne in the lead role, along with Conan O’Brien, a former talkshow host, and rapper ASAP Rocky in supporting roles.

The movie titled “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” which had its debut at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and is vying for the prestigious Golden Bear award at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, doesn’t yet have a confirmed domestic release date by A24.
