Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s rom-com is officially titled ‘Loveyapa’ and our excitement is peaking

As an ardent film buff who has been following Bollywood since the days of Sholay and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, I can hardly contain my excitement over the upcoming romantic-comedy, Loveyapa, starring Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor. Having grown up watching Aamir in movies like Lagaan and Taare Zameen Par, it feels surreal to see his progeny stepping into the world of cinema.

Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, and Khushi Kapoor are set for their first on-screen collaboration in a romantic comedy movie. The project was officially revealed back in September of this year. Today, it has been announced that the film, directed by Advait Chandan, will be titled “Loveyapa” and is scheduled to hit theaters on February 7, 2025.

On December 26th, Khushi Kapoor announced on her Instagram account the title of her upcoming movie with Junaid Khan. This film, directed by Advait Chandan (known for Laal Singh Chaddha), is called Loveyapa. The post was shared simultaneously across the social media pages of the involved production companies.

Immediately following the announcement, numerous internet users flocked to the comments section, voicing their enthusiasm for the upcoming film. One user exclaimed, “I’m so excited!”, another echoed, “This looks thrilling!”, and yet another shared, “I can’t wait for the Today Remake produced by the original team….” Moreover, many fans peppered the comments with heart and fire emojis, expressing their enthusiasm over the news.

Significantly, this year in September, the creators unveiled an official announcement regarding the movie. In doing so, they released a unique post showcasing the animated male and female characters. The image depicted the girl snapping a selfie on her phone. It was also hinted that the film explores themes of “love, affection, and all that lies in between.

Previously, a report from Hindustan Times suggested that the upcoming movie is a remake of the successful Tamil film titled “Love Today.

Backed by Phantom Studios & AGS Entertainment, Loveyapa will be released worldwide by Zee Studios. 

For those who may not be familiar, the film Love Today, released in 2022, was helmed by director Pradeep Ranganathan. He also starred as the main character, with Ivana, Raveena Ravi, Yogi Babu, Sathyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, Akshaya Udayakumar, Prathana Nathan, Adithya Kathir, and Aajeedh Khalique taking on significant roles.

Earlier this year, Junaid first appeared on screen in Siddharth P Malhotra’s historical drama “Maharaj,” sharing the spotlight with Shalini Pandey and Sharvari. In contrast, Khushi entered the film industry last year through Zoya Akhtar’s production titled “The Archies.
