However, for the Fall/Winter 2024 collection, the pieces were infused with the vibrant, animated spirit of Tokyo’s bustling street culture.
As I dived into this season’s AAPENOW lineup, it felt like stepping back into some of my favorite classic gaming outfits – down puffer jackets, knits, hoodies, t-shirts, and pants. But these weren’t just old favorites; they’d been given a fresh twist with bold colors that echoed Japan’s vibrant youth culture. Drawing inspiration from the kaleidoscope of hues that paint Tokyo’s busy streets, the collection brought out brilliant cherry reds, burnt oranges, forest greens, and retro prints alongside more subtle neutrals. The contrast between these vivid colors and the muted tones created a unique balance within the collection, much like the diverse styles you see on Japan’s fashion-forward streets.
Moving forward with certain trademark artisanal methods, parts of this collection feature a unique blend of two-tone camouflage, innovative dye processes, and patch embroidery. Fresh designs encompass a false two-piece t-shirt, a jacket adorned with a tweed pattern, a sports-style tracksuit enhanced by a special cleaning process, and the popular logo sweatshirt series shaped like clubs.
