In February this year, Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 Part 2 hit the screens, featuring Bobby Deol reprising his role as Baba Nirala and Aaditi Pohankar returning as Parminder ‘Pammi’ Lochan. Aaditi has won over viewers with her portrayal in the series. As for the third season, Aaditi spoke about it, revealing that the most challenging part was developing her character. She also acknowledged that immersing herself in her character’s journey had a profound emotional impact on her.
Speaking with ETimes, Aaditi Pohankar discussed the struggles she faced while depicting Pammi’s journey in Aashram. She explained that representing Pammi’s transformation from innocence to retaliation was particularly challenging. In some scenes, like those involving Bhabhi or following Akki’s death, these transitions were delicate but impactful, making them difficult to pull off effectively.
The actress noted, “As an actor, it’s consistently difficult to catch those subtle details since the destination isn’t always clear.” She mentioned that expressing such feelings wasn’t about memorized actions but rather a natural response honed by decades of practice. Maintaining each scene as unique and avoiding repetition in her performance was a significant hurdle she often faced.
Apart from Aaditi mentioning that although Aashram 3.5 lacked wrestling sequences, she continued with her training to keep Pammi’s strength intact, she elaborated on this by pointing out instances where even minor actions, such as how Pammi stood up after being soaked in prison, needed to convey resilience. Additionally, she disclosed that the role was emotionally taxing since Pammi’s grief evolved following her mother’s demise, causing her character to become more reserved and guarded.
She gratefully acknowledged the remarkable success of the show, confessing they hadn’t anticipated such fervent reactions. Receiving acclaim for her portrayal underscores the power of her acting.
Additionally, Aaditi Pohankar mentioned that collaborating with Prakash Jha significantly shaped her career. He imparted to her the importance of understated expression, demonstrating emotion without overt dramatization.
Reflecting on her role, the actress joyously savored pani puri, yet quickly faced challenges in adding 10 kilos to her frame. Given her athletic history, this transformation required a solid three months of dedication.
For those not familiar, Aaditi Pohankar’s portrayal in the Aashram series showcases a significant transformation. At first, her character Pammi is drawn to the ashram by its apparent fairness and teachings. However, as secrets are unveiled, she comes to understand the ashram’s sinister side. The revelation of Baba Nirala’s true motives propels her to oppose the system. Her journey from devoted follower to resolute adversary brings a sense of urgency and intensity to the narrative, making Pammi one of the most compelling characters in the series.
