Ability Breakdown for Cloak and Dagger in Marvel Rivals

Ability Breakdown for Cloak and Dagger in Marvel Rivals

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the introduction of Cloak and Dagger in Marvel Rivals has been nothing short of exhilarating. Coming from a background where I’ve played countless games featuring the mighty Marvel heroes, it’s always refreshing to see lesser-known characters getting their time in the spotlight.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got to say, Marvel Rivals doesn’t hold back when it comes to introducing lesser-known characters. And let me tell you, the team-up of Cloak and Dagger? Totally caught me off guard!

In a single payment, you get two characters, and during combat, you can swap between them. The exciting aspect is that they possess distinct abilities, yet their ultimate move is a joint endeavor from both.

Cloak and Dagger Abilities

Uniting them is the source of their shared power, making Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen a single playable character in this game, working as a team.

Cloak and Dagger are an unbreakable team, each representing darkness and light individually. Originally solo heroes, Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen became intertwined when the Multiverse started tearing apart during the Timestream Entanglement. Now bound together, they need to harmonize their extraordinary abilities to protect their friends and themselves.

Due to the necessity of living together for survival, Cloak and Dagger will need to master the art of joint combat. This means they’ll have to utilize their abilities in unique and unprecedented ways.

In the context of this game, Cloak and Dagger are labeled as Strategists, which is equivalent to ‘Healers.’ However, don’t be deceived by this title; they can still inflict harm on opposing teams. Here’s a summary of their abilities (from the Marvel Rivals Guide):

Dagger Abilities

Light Dagger Projectiles – Seeking Arrows – The dagger launches its light arrows, which swiftly seek out targets. Friendly units striking them will receive healing, while foes will sustain damage.

Alternative Name – Massive Thrust – Rather than launching individual healing daggers, this dagger ability unleashes a salvo of daggers that heal allies over time.

Option A: Dagger launches a restorative barrier, moving forward in a straight line. This barrier restores health to all team members passing through it. Additionally, it provides extra healing benefits to those who are struck by it.

Cloak Abilities

Main Fire – Harmful Drain – This ability consistently drains the health of enemies; it doesn’t need to be reloaded.

Secondary Fire – Hide Allies –Hide envelops nearby teammates, rendering them temporarily invincible, including protecting them from ultimate abilities. Additionally, this power enables Cloak to navigate and soar more freely across the battlefield.

Alternative E – Oppressive Barrier – Similar to Dagger’s barrier, but this one targets adversaries rather than allies. Adversaries colliding with this obstruction will sustain heightened damage and temporarily lose their sight.

Shared Ability – Healing/Damage Dash: This skill is common to both characters. Cloak and Dagger can perform this dash thrice. Any character within their trajectory, whether friend or foe, will receive healing if they’re allies, or take damage if they’re enemies.

Keep in mind that the characters Cloak and Dagger each have distinct cool-down periods for their special abilities, allowing players to alternate between them when one runs out of strategies.

Light and Darkness

In terms of characters similar to Overwatch, it seems like Cloak and Dagger share traits with both Kiriko and Moira. Dagger’s projectiles, which can either restore health or deal damage, are reminiscent of her abilities, while Cloak’s ability to drain an enemy’s health, similar to draining their energy, is akin to Moira’s HP absorption skill.

The ultimate, which damages or heals depending on who is hit, is also reminiscent of Moira’s ultimate, which does the same thing—but Moira’s is a beam, while Cloak and Dagger can be strategic in where they leave their trail.

Although Cloak and Dagger haven’t appeared prominently in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, they’ve still found a place on the screen with their series on Amazon Prime Video that spanned two seasons. The upcoming series Marvel Rivals promises to shine a fresh light on Tyrone and Tandy, and many comic book enthusiasts are thrilled that these characters have been added to the core lineup of one of this year’s most eagerly awaited video games.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement! In just a few days (Dec. 6), Cloak and Dagger will be joining the ranks of 33 other heroes when Marvel Rivals drops on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Can’t wait to see these iconic characters in action!
