Accio Butterbeer! How Harry Potter Fans Can Nab The Sweet Treat Without Paying For A Theme Park Ticket

As a seasoned gamer and theme park enthusiast who’s been through more Disney Dole Whips than I can count, this latest move by Universal Orlando Resort is nothing short of magical! Being able to indulge in Butterbeer without having to first cast a ‘Finite Incantatum’ on my wallet (or pay for a theme park ticket) feels like a charm I’ve been waiting to unlock all these years.

Theme parks offer enthusiasts an immersive escape into fantastical realms that sometimes seem astonishingly authentic. They provide unique experiences unavailable elsewhere, making their relatively high admission fees a challenge for many. However, lucky Harry Potter fans seeking the iconic Butterbeer from Universal theme parks can now enjoy it without actually entering the park.

Universal Orlando Resort has unveiled plans for an expansion of their Universal Studios Store, located at Universal CityWalk. This expansion will feature separate sections for Super Nintendo World merchandise, which is slated to open alongside the new Epic Universe theme park next year. Additionally, there will be a dedicated area for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, offering not just souvenirs but also a counter selling various types of Butterbeer.

Butterbeer Will Be Available At Universal CityWalk

Butterbeer comes in cold, frozen, and hot options, including a vegan version. It’s served at various Harry Potter-themed spots, but you needed a theme park ticket to enter Universal Orlando Resort first before purchasing Butterbeer, as it was only available within the two Harry Potter lands. There will be another Wizarding World land in the upcoming Epic Universe park too.

As someone who enjoys theme park cuisine, I’m quite fond of this new offering. Theme parks offer some delicious treats, and it’s understandable why certain items are exclusive to them. However, it can be disappointing when you’re eager to buy a specific dish but are unable to due to the expense of entering the parks. In essence, if you factor in the cost of admission, a single Butterbeer could set you back over $100.

Making Theme Park Food Available Without The Ticket Price Is A Great Move

One method parks have been utilizing to entice visitors is by offering unique culinary experiences. For instance, Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights and its annual Mardi Gras festival provide exceptional food options that make these events highly attractive. The aim is to pique your appetite and encourage you to purchase a ticket due to the tantalizing food offerings.

It’s not a new occurrence that well-known snacks from popular theme parks like Disneyland and Magic Kingdom can be found outside of these locations. For instance, the renowned Dole Whip isn’t exclusive to Disneyland anymore; it’s also served at Tangaroa Terrace Bar & Grill at the Disneyland Hotel in California and at the Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World. Similar to Butterbeer, you don’t need a theme park ticket to enjoy these treats, just a visit to the resorts themselves.

By the close of each day, it’s likely that Universal will see significantly increased sales of Butterbeer once the new offering is introduced, which is beneficial for both the resort and those eager to savor it. The Universal Studios Store is set to undergo expansion in 2025, although the specific opening date remains undisclosed at this time.
