This season brings a fresh installment of “The Voice”, and no, you’re not still under the influence from your previous encounter in Snoop Dogg’s dressing room – it truly was Adam Levine reappearing on “The Voice” for Season 27. Naturally, there’s been much anticipation surrounding his return after a six-season absence, and he certainly held his own against John Legend, who rules the Four-Chair Turn. However, it wasn’t just Levine who graced the stage once again when the Blind Auditions began; some familiar faces came back to shake things up, even throwing in an unexpected twist.
A No-Turn Artist From Last Season Came Back For Another Shot
On his first return to “The Voice,” Adam Levine witnessed the comeback of two other artists, albeit in distinct roles. Initially, Iris Herrera, who didn’t manage to turn any chairs during Season 26, took the stage once more and performed a soulful, slowed-down rendition of “You Are My Sunshine.” You can view her performance below:
In my latest stint as a television critic, I found myself reflecting on “The Voice” season, where a 19-year-old contestant experienced a significant turn of fortune in her second audition attempt. This time around, she managed to secure the approval of musical heavyweights such as Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend, and Michael Bublé – quite an impressive feat!
Iris Herrera herself admitted that her success was the result of diligent preparation and a strategic decision to perform a new song in front of a fresh panel of coaches, with only Michael Bublé remaining from season 26. The change in judges certainly seemed to make a world of difference for her.
Actually, Season 26 and Season 27 were both filmed consecutively in advance, which makes me wonder about the gap between her two tries. Regardless, hearty congratulations to Iris Herrera, the latest addition to Team Kelsea!
Season 25 Finalist Bryan Olesen Was In The Building — But He Wasn’t Performing…
As nightfall approached, another well-known figure emerged; interestingly, it wasn’t Bryan Olesen returning for personal reasons. Instead, he was there with his 23-year-old daughter, Jadyn Cree, who was auditioning. This unexpected turn of events made me recall that Olesen had been the eldest contestant in Season 25, and it also reminded me that his daughter too was a singer.
Kelsea Ballerini’s rendition of “Still Into You” by Paramore caught the ear of Michael Bublé, indicating he found something appealing in it.
Fans of The Voice might recall Jadyn Cree, who sang a duet with her father during his audition last year and ended up being part of Team Legend. (In fact, the father-daughter pair were fortunate enough to sit in the double chair of Dan & Shay.)
Sadly, Jadyn Cree wasn’t able to continue in the same path as her father on John Legend’s team because he didn’t rotate his chair. However, I think it’s safe to say that Legend might try to recruit her from the Canadian crooner at some point in the future.
As a die-hard fan of reality singing competitions, I’m thrilled that “The Voice” is back in action! With Adam Levine, the original charmer, returning to stir things up, I’m eagerly anticipating some unpredictable moments. Don’t miss out on the drama; tune into NBC at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, February 10th, and join me in watching what unfolds!
