Adeline Rudolph, Arden Cho to Headline K-Pop Thriller ‘Perfect Girl’

Adeline Rudolph (known for Mortal Kombat 2) and Arden Cho (recognized from Partner Track and Avatar: The Last Airbender) will be the main actors in Perfect Girl, a psychological thriller directed by Hong Won-ki, produced by Badlands – a genre label created last year by John Wick producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee’s Thunder Road, along with Scott Strauss, a longtime executive at Screen Gems.

In the fast-paced K-pop industry setting of 2023’s Black List script, “Perfect Girl” unfolds. Comparable to a blend of “Scream” and “Black Swan”, the narrative revolves around aspirants vying for four coveted positions in a fresh supergroup. However, the competition takes an eerie turn when a secretive and gifted newcomer enters the scene at the final hour. As the tryouts progress, strange occurrences begin to unfold: Trainees mysteriously disappear and face attacks one by one.

Next month, the upgrade of the movie titled “Perfect Girl” will be released for international purchase at the European Film Market. Domestic rights are being managed by CAA Media Finance.

Born in Hong Kong but of Korean heritage, Rudolph is set to return as Kitana in Mortal Kombat 2, which is directed by Simon McQuoid and scheduled for release on October 24. She has garnered recognition for her acting roles in shows like Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Resident Evil, and Riverdale on The CW.

Actress Cho, of Korean-American descent, gained notability through her role in MTV’s “Teen Wolf” and more recently graced our screens in Netflix’s “Partner Track”. Currently, you can see her portraying the character June in Netflix’s live adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender”.

Hong, one of the founders at the helm of prominent K-pop music video production company Zanybros, has been responsible for creating numerous videos for renowned K-pop acts like BTS, Gfriend, and Mamamoo. Subsequently, he ventured into fiction, with his work encompassing horror anthologies such as Urban Myths and Goedam. Notably, the latter project was picked up by Netflix and showcased both current and past K-pop idols.

The well-known K-pop songwriters, Sunshine and Moonshine, who have contributed to number-one hits by BTS, Red Velvet, TWICE, and aespa, will be composing the original music for the movie “Perfect Girl“.

Last year, Badlands – a venture supported by Renegade Capital – has been expanding its collection of genres, with upcoming productions such as Ángel Gómez Hernández’s “Arachnid” and “Dangerous Games to Play”.

Rudolph is managed by the firms IAG, Luber Roklin, Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher. Cho is represented by Innovative Artists and imPRint. Director Hong and Zanybros are also handled by IAG and Magnolia Entertainment. Yu, on the other hand, is under Verve and Code Entertainment.
