Adidas is bringing back the cherished Terry Fox Orion running shoes, a timeless design from the ’70s, which were prominently worn by Terry Fox during his Marathon of Hope in 1980. These shoes were last released in 2020 for the 40th anniversary and quickly sold out. Now, to commemorate the 45th anniversary, these legendary sneakers will be restocked.

The special edition Orion sports a navy blue color scheme, with subtle highlights on the upper and toe area. Its midsole stands out brightly white, contrasting beautifully with Adidas’ iconic three stripes. The shoe boasts “Terry Fox” embroidered in gold along the stripes, and includes special shoelaces as a tribute.

Starting with a prosthetic limb, a man embarked on a cross-country marathon named Hope for Cancer Awareness, logging an average of 25 miles daily for 143 days, resulting in an astounding 3,339 miles covered. Before setting off on his journey across Canada, he penned a letter to adidas seeking sponsorship for footwear. As a result, the company provided him with 26 pairs of their Orion running shoes. Unfortunately, his run was abruptly ended when cancer resurfaced and spread to his lungs. However, his indomitable spirit and bravery continue to motivate millions even today.

Beyond being simply a running shoe, this launch honors the legacy of Fox – a symbol of bravery, resilience, and optimism. The profits from its sale will be channeled straight into funding for Canadian cancer research.
