News about Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi made waves when it was reported that he allegedly attacked his neighbor in an angry outburst. Subsequently, charges were filed against him, and both parties underwent a trial that lasted over a decade. Eventually, a local court in Mumbai found him to be at fault.
As reported by PTI, the actor from Bajirao Mastani has been granted bail in the parking assault case. The news agency states that a Mumbai sessions court confirmed his conviction but altered the one-year imprisonment sentence to a bond for good conduct. Essentially, the magistrate allowed him to walk free under this bond.
Furthermore, the 59-year-old actor was instructed to make a payment of approximately INR 1.5 lakhs to the victim. The judge in the sessions court decided that instead of imposing a severe sentence, it is appropriate for the accused to be granted release on good behavior probation under Section 4 of the Probation of Offenders Act.
In August 2005, there was an altercation between Aditya Pancholi and a neighbor, stemming from a disagreement over parking. As per news reports, the argument escalated into a physical fight when Pancholi went downstairs to retrieve his car. The victim claimed that Pancholi attacked him and his elderly father.
Consequently, the following day, the neighbor filed a report at the Versova police station against Salman Khan’s bodyguard. Pancholi was subsequently arrested under sections 323 (inflicting hurt voluntarily), 325 (inflicting grievous hurt voluntarily), 504 (intentionally insulting with intent to provoke a public disturbance) and 506 (2) (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code.
In the year 2016, the actor was convicted for assaulting a man in an outburst of anger and received a one-year jail term. He was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 20,000. Following this verdict, Pancholi challenged the decision in a higher court.
