As a connoisseur of fragrances who has spent countless hours under various canopies, I cannot help but feel a profound connection to Aēsop’s latest creation, “Virēre.” Having savored the sweet aroma of fig trees while sipping tea in the Mediterranean myself, I find Barnabé Fillion’s inspiration truly resonates with me.
Aesop is introducing “Virere,” their eleventh addition to the expanding family of Eau de Parfums in their lineup.
The creators of this fragrance describe it as an unusual mix that reminds one of sun-ripened citrus fruits, fig trees with their sweet scent, and green tea. This new scent marks a change from Aēsop’s “Othertopias” series, which centered around more intricate and multi-layered aromas.
“Virēre” encourages its users to appreciate fleeting tranquility, commencing with a soothing and invigorating fusion of bergamot and green tea. As the fragrance mingles with the wearer’s skin, the comforting scent of fig trees subtly emerges, forming “a verdant recollection.”
Barnabé Fillion, who has worked closely with Aēsop on fragrances for a long time, developed “Virēre” inspired by his vacation experiences in the Mediterranean. He found a sense of poetry in taking time to relax beneath a fig tree and brewing the perfect tea. Essentially, he described “Virēre” as a scent that transports him back to those peaceful mornings spent under a sunlit canopy during his vacation.
As a keen admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the long-awaited “Virēre” product, priced at approximately $140 USD (or $1,100 HKD), is set to hit the shelves! Starting September 2nd, you can find it in Aēsop’s physical stores and their online shop. Can’t wait to get my hands on it!
