Following an unsuccessful trial in Las Vegas, the American Film Market will return to Los Angeles for its 2025 event.
The AFM 2025 conference is scheduled from November 11th to 16th, taking place at the Fairmont Century Plaza located in Century City, right next to Beverly Hills.
Jean M. Prewitt, CEO, and Clay Epstein, Chairperson, of the Independent Film & Television Alliance (AFM organizers), stated that their return to Los Angeles following the recent tragic fires carries great importance. They expressed their joy in reuniting with colleagues where AFM originated, and by participating in this gathering, they will contribute to the city’s reconstruction, a crucial center for our industry.
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but feel excited about the return to the Hollywood scene. This move is sure to be met with applause from international film traders and merchants who voiced concerns last year. The chaotic 24-hour buzz and, frankly, peculiar and uninviting ambiance of the market held at the Palms Casino, situated far from the hub of LA’s film industry, wasn’t exactly their cup of tea.
The IFTA statement reads, “The [Fairmont Century Plaza] is perfectly located, just a short distance from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Westwood, and it shares a border with the AMC Century City 15 for easy access to screenings.” It continues, “Recently refurbished, the Fairmont offers an exquisite mix of elegance, convenience, facilities, and pricing that remains comparable to previous years.
In the past three years, AFM has made its third relocation, as it was compelled to vacate its longstanding Santa Monica location within the Loews hotel in 2023, moving instead to a somewhat less desirable site atop the Le Méridien Delfina.
The IFTA emphasized in their statement that AFM plays a crucial role as a meeting place, and they believe Los Angeles is the perfect spot for this. This stance comes after the reactions within the industry following the event in Las Vegas last year. They noted that the Fairmont’s location best answers your desire for an elegant setting that balances convenience and productivity.
