From his iconic role as Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock to his portrayal of President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, he’s always managed to make us laugh and think. However, the unfortunate incident on the set of Rust cast a dark shadow over his recent years.

Alec Baldwin has enjoyed a lengthy and highly prosperous journey in television and cinema, but his path has been tainted by certain controversies more recently. Even as fans continue to revisit the sitcom 30 Rock on Peacock, there’s been an ongoing legal drama stemming from the tragic death of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer for the movie “Rust”. Following the dismissal of his criminal case related to the incident, Baldwin posted a heartwarming family video from Christmas.

The news about Baldwin’s case getting dismissed came out on Christmas Eve, undoubtedly contributing to his festive spirits. In conjunction with the dismissal, prosecutor Kari Morrissey released a statement (through USA Today), reading as follows:

The primary focus has always been on obtaining justice for Halyna Hutchins. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to hold Mr. Baldwin accountable for his part in her death through this appeal process. However, as we choose to discontinue our appeal, we can only hope that the pending lawsuits will somehow bring justice to the family of Halyna Hutchins.

It’s quite evident that the message was unmistakable. Given that the legal process has run its course, it appears as though Alec Baldwin might escape any potential criminal charges linked to safety issues on the Rust set.

Since Hutchins’ passing, the 66-year-old “Beetlejuice” has been closely associated with the events surrounding the set of “Rust”. Footage from the set captured him conversing with Hutchins before the incident. Given that he was both an actor and producer on the project, there has been much scrutiny directed towards him regarding the unfortunate event.

The future of the filming of “Rust” is uncertain at this point, as it was initially planned. However, the recent tragedy has prompted figures such as The Rock to prohibit real firearms on their sets, aiming to create a safer environment for everyone involved.
