After Arjun Kapoor, Jackky Bhagnani gets injured on Mere Husband Ki Biwi sets, FWICE says ‘Puri film industry…’

On Saturday, there was a devastating accident on the set of Mere Husband Ki Biwi, featuring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh in Mumbai. The roof collapsed, causing harm to several people, among them Arjun, producer Jackky Bhagnani, director Mudassar Aziz, and numerous crew members. Now, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has released a statement, highlighting that the movie industry largely operates under divine providence.

According to the Indian Express, the president of the association, BN Tiwari, reported that despite the incident, there were no serious injuries. Although things could have taken a turn for the worse, thankfully everyone escaped without major harm. He also mentioned that the shooting was stopped at the scene where it happened, suggesting that the ceiling collapse was due to poor maintenance.

He went on to note that a correspondence was dispatched to the Prime Minister in Delhi as well as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, outlining issues related to the well-being and security of workers in the industry. The letter also raised worries about Film City, specifically pointing out the weakening state of the foundations that could potentially crumble at any instant.

1. He underscored the importance of conducting a structural review, highlighting the absence of an appropriate emergency exit for fires. He expressed concerns about the current reliance on divine intervention in the movie industry, wondering how sustainable this state of affairs might be.

2. He underlined the necessity of a building inspection, noting the deficiency of adequate fire escape routes during emergencies. He raised questions about the continued dependence on good fortune within the film sector, pondering its longevity.

3. He stressed the significance of a structural assessment, drawing attention to the lack of a suitable emergency evacuation plan for fires. He voiced doubts about the industry’s reliance on divine intervention, expressing uncertainty about how long this practice can persist.

4. He underscored the requirement for a thorough inspection of the building’s framework, pointing out the absence of an effective fire exit strategy during emergencies. He expressed reservations about the current faith-based approach in the film industry, questioning its durability.

5. He emphasized the urgency of a structural review, underscoring the need for a proper escape route in case of fires. He questioned the sustainability of relying solely on divine intervention within the movie business, expressing concerns about how long it could continue.

BN Tiwari stated, “The whole film industry is being sustained by divine help, but for how much longer will this divine observation persist?

He pointed out that similar occurrences are frequently overlooked as they go unreported. He suggested that remuneration is sometimes given to conceal problems, leading to many concerns being silenced because individuals worry about job security.

The head of FWICE underscored the importance of keeping the studio in good condition, stressing that it is both the art director’s and the studio owner’s duty. He noted that studios are often constructed but neglected when it comes to regular maintenance, even as they continue to accept appointments for film shoots. He issued a warning that if the authorities don’t intervene, movie productions could potentially relocate from Mumbai.

The production of Arjun Kapoor’s upcoming movie, “Mere Husband Ki Biwi,” was progressing smoothly until an unfortunate event halted it. Neither the actors nor the producers associated with the film have issued any comments regarding this incident. In addition to Arjun, the film also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh in significant roles.
