Renowned director Priyadarshan is gearing up for his upcoming movies, Bhooth Bangla and Hera Pheri 3 featuring Akshay Kumar. Fans are thrilled at the prospect of watching these films. According to recent news, he will team up with Saif Ali Khan for the Hindi adaptation of Oppam, which originally starred Mohanlal. As per the report, Saif is set to portray the blind character in the remake.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, I shared my excitement about my upcoming project with renowned director, Priyadarshan. For the first time, we’ll be working together, and I’m taking on an intriguing role – that of a blind man. This film, unlike some of his previous works, isn’t a comedy but a gripping thriller.
The filmmaker shared with a news outlet, “I’ve admired Saif Ali Khan’s on-screen charm for quite some time now. I’ve been eagerly looking for an opportunity to collaborate with him.”
Meanwhile, Mid-day reported that the movie could potentially be a Hindi adaptation of Oppam, which featured Mohanlal in the lead role. The film was also suggested to be the work of Priyadarshan and rumored to have been inspired by Korean movie Blind and Martin Scorsese’s Cape Fear.
For the unversed, Mohanlal played the role of a blind man in Oppam.
Professionally speaking, Priyadarshan is currently engaged in filming the supernatural comedy “Bhooth Bangla” featuring Akshay Kumar, and he’s also working on the third edition of “Hera Pheri”, which stars Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty.
In contrast, Saif Ali Khan will appear next in the movie titled “Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins”. Alongside him, this film boasts an impressive cast that includes Jaideep Ahlawat, Nikita Dutta, Kunal Kapoor, and others. This production is helmed by directors Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal, and produced by Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand under their banner Marflix Productions.
