After Coyote Vs. Acme's Release Got Scrapped, Looney Tunes Fans Can Look Forward To Another Movie Hitting Theaters (Hopefully)

As a long-time fan who’s seen more Looney Tunes episodes than I can count (and that’s saying something!), this latest news has me dancing like Daffy Duck on a hot plate! The prospect of finally seeing “The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” in theaters is enough to make me do cartwheels across my living room.

Originally, we were expecting a year’s worth of festivities marking the release of “Coyote vs. Acme“. Regrettably, those plans never materialized as they were temporarily abandoned. Yet, optimism remains for “Looney Tunes” enthusiasts who look forward to cinema trips, since the 2024 movie lineup holds promise. Although the future of “Coyote vs. Acme” remains uncertain, exciting news comes with the acquisition of domestic distribution rights for “The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie“!

As a longtime film enthusiast and someone who’s been following the release of “The Day The Earth Blew Up” for quite some time now, I am thrilled to hear about this recent development. Having grown tired of waiting for its theatrical release in the US, I must say that news from Ketchup Entertainment as the new domestic distributor brings a ray of hope and excitement. It’s like a breath of fresh air knowing that we are one step closer to finally witnessing the hilarity this movie promises to bring. Compared to other projects like “Coyote vs. Acme,” which has been lingering in development for what seems like an eternity, I am optimistic that “The Day The Earth Blew Up” will see the light of the big screen much sooner. Fingers crossed!

Regrettably, there’s no clear launch date or even a timeframe indicated for this exciting news regarding the movie. Nonetheless, it’s clear that people are enthusiastic about the film’s acquisition, as evidenced by these words from Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment:

“The Explosive Day on Earth is a significant milestone for the Looney Tunes series, and we’re thrilled to collaborate with Warner Bros. Animation to present this movie in cinemas. We eagerly anticipate audiences of all ages enjoying one of the most intellectually stimulating animated films in recent times.”

As a passionate fan, I must confess my excitement about the upcoming “Looney Tunes” project. However, what leaves me concerned is that this project, initially planned as a Max original, has already been shown in some regions. For instance, it premiered at the Annecy Film Festival this summer and has just started its theatrical run in Germany and Switzerland. This early exposure raises concerns about piracy, considering it’s unclear if illicit copies of “The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” haven’t already surfaced.

Reflecting on the historical significance of these Warner Bros. creations, deeply embedded in American pop culture, it seems odd, particularly considering Space Jam: A New Legacy, a production that garnered both cinematic and streaming release, is perceived as such. This is when I can’t help but remember those challenging times, where projects like Batgirl were labeled “unreleasable” within the Warner Bros. pipeline, either sold off or put on hold.

Despite my doubts about the quality of the movie, given that I’ve been keeping tabs on this story for a while now. To be precise, long enough to come across the clip that voice actor Eric Bauza posted, already finished and colored: The Day The Earth Blew Up.

The scene from “The Day The Earth Blew Up” perfectly embodies the hilarious and iconic duo, Daffy and Porky, with Mr. Bauza’s voice spot-on for both characters. Although I’m excited to catch a trailer, this clip is a classic Looney Tunes joke that demonstrates their comedic style hasn’t lost its luster one bit. A sneak peek into what we might expect from the upcoming “Coyote vs. Acme” further reinforces the high-quality production they promise.

As a lifelong fan of Looney Tunes, I can’t help but feel a renewed sense of optimism upon hearing the news that Daffy and Porky’s antics are doing well. Growing up, these characters were an integral part of my childhood, bringing laughter and joy to countless hours spent in front of the television. The thought that Bugs, Daffy, and the rest of the gang might not be “That’s All Folks” for me is truly exhilarating.

At present, you can stream a good selection of the beloved Looney Tunes collection through various streaming platforms. With your Max subscription, you’ll have the opportunity to watch many timeless classics and some newer productions that have been circulating recently. As soon as we receive an official release date for The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, we will promptly share that information with you.
