As a dedicated gamer and longtime fan of both Tony Goldwyn and Kerry Washington, I’m thrilled to hear that these two talented actors might be reuniting on our screens once again. Their chemistry as Fitz and Olivia on “Scandal” was undeniable, and I can only imagine the magic they would bring to Dick Wolf’s “Law & Order.”
Tony Goldwyn and Kerry Washington acted together on “Scandal” for seven seasons on ABC. However, their professional paths have diverged since then. Goldwyn started working on “Law & Order” in the 2024 TV lineup, taking over as the District Attorney from Sam Waterston’s Jack McCoy. The Season 23 finale left Nick Baxter’s future uncertain, but it’s likely that he’ll reappear in the autumn. Recently, Washington expressed her thoughts on potentially joining Goldwyn on “Law & Order” following his invitation.
In June, Tony Goldwyn expressed his support for Kerry Washington joining “Law & Order” during an interview with People. More recently, Washington responded to this possibility in a chat with ET, stating:
I’ve never before learned this newsworthy information. After all, when Tony Goldwyn gives me instructions, my response is typically affirmative. Consequently, we’ll need to work out the specifics regarding the timing and logistics of the situation.
As a longtime fan of both Shonda Rhimes’ Scandal and Dick Wolf’s Law & Order franchises, I’m excited about the possibility of Kerry Washington appearing in Law & Order. However, based on my understanding of media reports, it’s unclear if this will actually happen. But I can assure you that if it does, it won’t be a repetition of Olitz, the tumultuous pairing on Scandal.
Kerry Washington has been active on television in the past few years, despite taking a breather following “Scandal” and her repeated efforts to retire from acting. After the conclusion of ABC’s “Scandal,” she joined Hulu for “Little Fires Everywhere” in 2020 and “UnPrisoned” in 2023, with the latter set to premiere its second season on July 17 exclusively on Hulu. Next, Washington will appear on “Law & Order,” marking her return to live-action network television. She’s excited about the possibility of some former “Scandal” cast members joining her in “UnPrisoned.” According to ET, she shared this during an interview.
As a big fan of the Scandal series and its talented cast, I can’t help but feel excited at the prospect of having them join us in this community. Their presence would undoubtedly enrich our discussions and bring new perspectives to the table. I eagerly anticipate any chance to collaborate with or engage with them in a meaningful way.
As a long-time fan of “Scandal” and a devoted viewer of the Law & Order franchise, I’m both excited and disappointed by NBC’s recent announcements. On one hand, I’m thrilled that Kerry Washington’s new podcast, UnPrisoned, may feature some familiar faces from Scandal. Tony Goldwyn’s Nick Baxter comes to mind as a potential guest, given his past success on the network.
To prepare for the upcoming premiere of “Law & Order,” consider re-watching earlier episodes featuring Tony Goldwyn. You can find his first season on Peacock. Regarding “Scandal” with Goldwyn and Kerry Washington, all seven seasons are available on Hulu for your viewing pleasure.
