After Learning Who Will Play Jay's Parents In Ghosts Season 4, I Have My Fingers Crossed That They'll Be Involved In One Specific Ghost Shenanigan

As a die-hard fan of Ghosts with a heart full of nostalgia for each season, I can’t help but feel a thrill of excitement when I hear about the upcoming Christmas episode and the addition of Jay’s parents to the cast. Having watched every episode since its inception, I’ve grown fond of the series’ unique blend of humor and supernatural elements, with possession scenes being one of my absolute favorites.

Upon our recent arrival at Woodstone Mansion, there’s already an air of anticipation regarding who will be gracing its halls towards the year-end. Coinciding with the broadcast of “Ghosts” Season 4 in 2024, the cast graced New York Comic Con to discuss upcoming episodes and share some enticing updates. Among these revelations was the unveiling of the actors set to portray Jay’s parents in the Christmas special. With this intriguing news in mind, there’s one particular ghost-related escapade that I eagerly look forward to seeing unfold when Sam and Jay encounter a supernatural mishap.

Jay’s Parents Have Been Cast, And They’ll Appear In The Christmas Episode Of Ghosts

In addition to choosing Mary Holland as the character Patience, the Puritan ghost, and Dean Norris for Sam’s father role, Jay’s parents are also joining the cast for Season 4. Actress Sakina Jaffrey from Billions and Snowpiercer, as well as Bernard White from Silicon Valley, will portray Champa and Mahesh in the upcoming Christmas episode of Ghosts.

In the two-episode special, “A Very Arondekar Christmas Part 1” and “A Very Arondekar Christmas Part 2,” we’ll encounter Jay’s mother Champa, who is particularly fond of her son but less tolerant towards Sam due to her displeasure over Jay moving upstate with her. Additionally, we’ll get to know Mahesh, who admires his son’s cooking skills, yet maintains a hope that Jay will eventually pursue engineering as well.

In addition, Jay’s mother, father, and his previously introduced sister, Bela (portrayed by Punam Patel), are all set to return in the storyline.

The episode’s summary indicates that the manor encounters a problem with their water heater which could potentially spoil the holiday celebrations. In other words, we can expect a lot of funny, chaotic situations for Sam, Jay, and his parents. Additionally, I hope there will be some supernatural twist, such as a spirit taking over the water heater!

I Really Hope They Get Possessed By The Ghosts

Among my cherished scenes from the TV show “Ghosts“, one that stands out is when Jay experienced possession. As Isaac explained in the video clip, such instances typically occur following an extremely dramatic accident, so the process of transferring a ghost into a human always involves some over-the-top circumstances. In this instance, Jay was close to being electrocuted while replacing a light bulb, and Hetty then took control of his body.

Watching Utkarsh Ambudkar deliver a spot-on Rebecca Wisocky character imitation had me in stitches. His captivating accent and outrageous dialogue lines combined to create an absurdly funny scene, and I can’t get enough! I sincerely hope that we see one or both of Jay’s parents portrayed similarly in the future – it would be fantastic!

Initially, it seems delightful to imagine Sakina Jaffrey and Bernard White attempting to mimic characters from the Ghosts series. Memorable moments for me include Jay being possessed by Hetty in Season 1 and Rose McIver’s character Sam getting taken over by Devan Chandler Long’s Thor in Season 2, which I can revisit with a Paramount+ subscription. Now, I eagerly anticipate the introduction of a new character interacting uniquely with these ghosts.

Moreover, it’s worth mentioning that there seems to be a past connection between Jay’s sister Bela and Trevor, which might add an exciting dose of drama. As their parents discover the peculiarities associated with Woodstone Manor, these unforeseen quirks could also surprise them.

It’s quite plausible that similar events might unfold, given the episode summary mentions a “water heater leak incident” causing distress for Sam and Jay. To me, such a maintenance problem seems like an ideal opportunity for something supernatural, like possession, to occur.

On the show Ghosts, a possession event typically occurs about once per season. Therefore, it’s reasonable to anticipate that Season 4 might feature such an event. Historically, these possessions have occurred during special episodes, like when Thor possessed Sam in a Christmas episode. Perhaps they will continue this tradition and let us enjoy the new guest stars being controlled by the cherished spirits we’ve grown accustomed to.

To find out if that occurs, tune in for the one-hour “Ghosts” holiday special on December 19. But remember, there’ll be plenty more episodes to enjoy before then since the popular comedy series is still airing on CBS every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
