Antoni Porowski, well-known as the food and wine expert on Netflix’s Queer Eye since 2018, is now making waves in a new setting. In the 2025 TV lineup, you can find him far from a Netflix subscription, thanks to the debut of his new National Geographic series titled No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski. This exciting project sees Porowski guiding celebrities on culinary adventures through their family histories, traversing the globe and sampling various dishes. The host recently chatted with TopMob about the premiere episode, which features Florence Pugh from We Live in Time and a voyage to the United Kingdom.
I had a conversation with Porowski at SCAD TVfest in Atlanta, not too far from when No Taste Like Home was scheduled to debut on National Geographic and be accessible via a Disney+ subscription. Six famous personalities were set to star in the new series: Awkwafina from Quiz Lady, Henry Golding from Crazy Rich Asians, James Marsden from Jury Duty, Issa Rae from Insecure, Justin Theroux from The Leftovers, and lastly, Florence Pugh. The host didn’t reveal the reason behind why “Florence Pugh’s English Odyssey” was the first episode to air out of the six, but did mention this:
Let me clarify something for you: The initial recording wasn’t our best, but let me assure you, my focus lies in ensuring that specific aspects are incorporated into the recipes and that I pronounce words correctly. Now, I wouldn’t say it was our worst episode to start with – after all, we’re talking about Florence here! [laughs]
Although I’m not well-versed in English culinary delights, the Yorkshire pudding recipe from “Florence Pugh’s English Odyssey” has piqued my interest significantly. In other words, Antoni Porowski did an excellent job without tripping over his words. His dedication certainly paid off, and as he stated – a Florence Pugh episode was bound to be the ideal choice for the first one. While viewers might have varying opinions, I believe we can all concur that the Yorkshire pudding looks mouthwatering. (Perhaps that’s what has captured my fascination?)
On Sundays, fresh episodes premiere on National Geographic, also accessible on Disney+ for streaming, providing audiences with an unprecedented perspective of Anthony Porowski in his show “No Taste Like Home“. Unlike his role in “Queer Eye”, this program reveals a distinct aspect of him, not only due to his solo hosting duties but also because the content offers a unique glimpse into his personality. When I asked how this National Geographic production unveils a fresh side of him, he elucidated:
What stays consistent for me are my interest in learning about others’ stories, particularly their connections to food, and my curiosity about their lives. The platform National Geographic is enabling us to explore this on a global scale like never before, allowing us to journey to the farthest reaches of the earth with stunning visuals that I find truly breathtaking.
In the first two episodes, airing in sequence (with “Awkwafina’s Korean Homecoming” following Florence Pugh’s episode on the premiere night), Porowski journeyed to different locations in England and South Korea. This is just the start, as Justin Theroux’s segment takes him to Italy, he travels to Germany with James Marsden, Issa Rae guides him through Senegal, and Henry Golding accompanies him to Borneo. Sharing his personal perspective, Porowski also pondered over his family background.
Growing up, I was nurtured by Polish immigrants in Canada, yet I never truly felt Canadian. After moving to the United States, I again didn’t identify as American because of my dual heritage – Canadian and Polish. As a result, I’ve always had a sense of belonging to multiple cultures, feeling more like a cosmopolitan being, if you understand. This feeling of being torn between various cultures has been a constant in my life. I guess portraying me as an individual who’s traveled extensively and who appreciates that diversity is crucial. We’ve hinted at this on Queer Eye, but I believe this new portrayal will be more vibrant, expansive, and thrilling.
Fans of Queer Eye have become somewhat acquainted with Antoni Porowski through the popular Netflix series; his upcoming book, No Taste Like Home, will delve deeper into this by chronicling his global travels. In an upcoming episode titled “Justin Theroux’s Italian Quest,” which airs on March 2 at 9 p.m. ET on National Geographic, Antoni will embark on a journey to uncover the origins of a family’s cherished pasta recipe. If you’re still unsure, take a look at the trailer below:
The show “Taste Like Home” boasts a considerable amount of expertise in travel and culinary arts, as it’s produced by Gordon Ramsay’s global production company, Studio Ramsay. It’s worth noting that Ramsay has embarked on numerous food-focused journeys, such as his adventures with National Geographic’s “Uncharted” (even escaping from a hippo in South Africa). Additionally, Ramsay has been the leading figure in several successful food shows. Antoni Porowski also serves as an executive producer for this program.
