After Quiet On Set, Dylan Sprouse Gets Honest About Why He Finds 'It Really Annoying' When Other Former Child Stars Complain

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I must say that Dylan Sprouse‘s perspective as a former child actor is refreshingly grounded and humble. Unlike some of his peers who seem to dwell on the supposed hardships of their past, Sprouse seems to have embraced his experiences with gratitude.

Since the release of “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side Of Kids TV” for Max subscribers in March, numerous child actors have been opening up about their personal experiences working on Nickelodeon and Disney shows during their childhood. The most recent actor to be questioned about the docuseries is Dylan Sprouse, who co-starred with his twin brother on the Disney Channel series “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and “The Suite Life On Deck”.

During a chat on the radio with Andy Cohen, Dylan Sprouse was asked if he had seen the show “Quiet On Set”. One of the Sprouse brothers responded that he seldom watches live-action movies or TV shows; instead, he prefers to spend his time watching anime.

As a gamer, I’ve consistently had an awesome time playing. You feel me? It’s just that, by the time I eventually get around to watching gameplay videos or discussions about it – say, a year later – it somehow loses its charm for me. I find myself thinking, ‘Alright, let’s move on.’

Currently, it’s being reported that accusations made by “Quiet On Set” are directed at Dan Schneider, a Nickelodeon TV producer. He has been accused of creating an unfriendly work atmosphere on shows such as “All That,” “Drake & Josh,” and “The Amanda Show.” However, it’s important to note that Dylan Sprouse, who was known for his work on the Disney Channel, never collaborated with Schneider. Therefore, Sprouse doesn’t have a personal perspective on these allegations since “Quiet On Set” focuses on its own experiences rather than those of others.

Later, Cohen inquired from Sprouse if there were aspects of being a child actor that made him feel as though he ought to “grieve” for things missed out on due to work. In response, this is what the actor had to say:

Absolutely not! I find it extremely frustrating when people don’t seize opportunities. It’s like, ‘Man, you had a fantastic chance.’ For me, it was life-changing. It gave me everything I cherish today, served as an excellent platform for my growth, funded my college education, helped me buy a house, and introduced me to the wonderful woman who is now my wife. I wouldn’t have met her if I hadn’t taken that opportunity.

Dylan Sprouse has much to be thankful for during his years as a child actor, from his babyhood to finishing The Suite Life on Deck at 19. After the series concluded, he pursued higher education in video game design and started dating model Barbara Palvin in 2018. The pair tied the knot last summer and continue to be content together. Dylan Sprouse doesn’t appreciate being criticized by ex-child actors, considering the privileged position he finds himself in. In his own words:

Instead of saying “I mean, I just find it really strange and bratty to do the opposite, like ‘Oh, my hindsight. I didn’t like what, I didn’t…’ Shut up,” you could say “It seems odd and immature to act contrary to my wishes, as if saying ‘If only I could see the future.’ Enough with the whining.” This version maintains the original sentiment while using more natural, easy-to-read language.

In the documentary titled “Quiet On Set,” several former child actors who worked under Dan Schneider as producer and showrunner at Nickelodeon have shared their stories. A significant disclosure from the film is Drake Bell’s accusation that he was sexually abused by a dialogue coach during his time on “Drake & Josh.” Notably, Ariana Grande, Jamie Lynn Spears, Amanda Bynes, and others declined to participate in the documentary.

Beyond the scope of the documentary, Ariana Grande has expressed her happiness that the “discussion is ongoing”, and her co-star Elizabeth Gillies mentioned they both needed time to reflect on their experiences on set after rewatching the series. Kenan Thompson couldn’t comment much on the show’s topic as he hasn’t experienced what’s been alleged, but expressed sympathy towards anyone who has been victimized or their families.

It’s reassuring to learn that despite the controversy surrounding the “Quiet On Set” allegations, Dylan Sprouse seems to have had a positive experience on his Disney Channel series. Moreover, he appears to be managing his privileges gained from his early fame responsibly.
