It’s been quite a while since we last saw “Andor” on our screens, considering TV shows’ usual pace. Fans of “Star Wars,” who have a Disney+ subscription, enjoyed the initial half of Cassian Andor’s prequel story from September to November in 2022. By the time Season 2 arrives on the 2025 TV lineup, it will be almost three years later. Luckily, we only have two more months until the wait is over! After the release of the first “Andor” Season 2 trailer, I too am curious if this “Star Wars” series will finally reveal a significant event in Saw Gerrera’s life that I’ve been eagerly awaiting since Forest Whitaker portrayed him in “Rogue One.”
Let’s take a moment to preview the forthcoming episodes of Andor, part of the Star Wars TV series lineup. This segment spans over four years, starting from where Season 1 ends and leading us to the point where Diego Luna’s character is in Rogue One.
The second season of Andor promises exciting developments, with characters like Ben Mendelsohn’s Orson Krennic and Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO returning, as well as more screen time for key figures such as Stellan Skarsgård’s Luthen Rael and Denise Gough’s Dedra Meero. However, a particular shot at the beginning of the trailer and the final scene hint that Andor may delve into how Saw Gerrera suffered lung damage in the upcoming season.
It’s worth reminding you that in the movie “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” Saw’s armor included a breath mask which he often used to take additional oxygen. Yet, the reason for his breathing difficulties remains unexplained throughout the film. Regardless, this detail doesn’t significantly impact the plot since Saw was killed on Jedha shortly after meeting Jyn Erso. Interestingly, in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” “Star Wars Rebels,” the game “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” and “Andor” Season 1, there’s no indication that Saw experiences any breathing problems. So, one might wonder if something happened to his lungs between those events in the Star Wars universe.
In the final moments of the Andor Season 2 trailer, it appears that Saw Gerrera is speaking motivational words without his breathing mask, while another character is wearing a breathing device. It’s plausible to assume that an upcoming episode will depict Saw encountering some harmful airborne substance that severely damages his lungs, leading to a condition where he can no longer breathe independently. This could be the reason why the other individual wears the apparatus; they managed to safeguard themselves beforehand, but Saw did not.
If my assumption is right, I’m eager to find out when this event takes place in ‘Andor’ Season 2, set to debut on April 22. Until that day, feel free to explore a distant galaxy by streaming the ‘Star Wars’ movies in sequence or any other ‘Star Wars’ series available on Disney+.
