As a long-time Marvel fan and avid follower of the intricate web of stories that tie these characters together, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation at the prospect of Tommy Maximoff’s appearance in Agatha All Along. Growing up with the tales of Quicksilver and the X-Men, I remember fondly the adventures of young speedsters, their powers mirroring the raw energy that defined my own youth.

In Episode 6 of “Agatha All Along,” the puzzle pieces of Billy Maximoff’s backstory were finally fitted together, providing answers to long-standing questions while subtly foreshadowing future events as the season nears its conclusion. The series had led many viewers to suspect that Billy was actually Wanda’s son, Wiccan, a theory confirmed in the closing moments of Episode 5. This episode also neatly tied up with the ending of “WandaVision,” as Billy took over William Kaplan’s body at the same time Wanda lifted the hex on Westview and her twin sons, Billy and Tommy, vanished alongside Vision.

The episode solely focused on Billy’s backstory and how he navigated his new reality with no memories of the life William Kaplan lived or of the events that occurred in WandaVision other than his intense drive to find his brother, Tommy Maximoff. The end of the episode affirmed Billy’s motivation to find Tommy at the end of The Witch’s Road and that he doesn’t trust Agatha, setting up the tension between the two characters in the episodes to come and Tommy Maximoff’s, also known as Speed, debut in the MCU.

In Episode 6, we learned about Billy Maximoff transforming into William “Billy” Kaplan, connecting the previous episode of WandaVision with Agatha All Along. The audience watched as Billy grappled with his new existence and pieced together his life as Billy Maximoff. A brief appearance by Evan Peters, known for playing Quicksilver, was a delightful touch for long-time Marvel enthusiasts. As Billy understood that “The Witch’s Road” could fulfill his wish to locate his brother, he also recognized the need for Agatha Harkness’ aid – a person he clearly deemed untrustworthy. The episode ends with Agatha emerging from sinking mud, and it’s revealed that Jen and Lilia perished during Billy’s power surge.

In a conversation, Agatha and Billy delve into his past, and Agatha starts to speculate who he might be. After demonstrating his power and Agatha addressing him by name, the symbol on Billy vanished. Agatha teases Billy’s reasons for traveling The Witch’s Road, and he admits that he seeks his brother Tommy, first appearing in the MCU during WandaVision. As their animosity toward Agatha intensifies, Billy decides to continue the journey with her. The episode concludes with them both searching for the upcoming test.

In Marvel Comics, Tommy Maximoff, much like his sibling Billy, undergoes reincarnation, this time as Thomas Shepard. Like his uncle Pietro Maximoff, also known as Quicksilver, Tommy possesses speedster abilities and joins the Young Avengers team, adopting the nickname Speed. Unlike Billy, who enjoyed a nurturing upbringing with the Kaplan family, Tommy’s childhood was marked by struggle, spending time in juvenile detention centers before his powers surfaced. He was subsequently held captive in a high-security facility to be molded into a weapon. The Young Avengers eventually come to his rescue, and Billy is one of their members.

Similar to Quicksilver, Tommy possesses the ability to run at speeds faster than sound and moves so swiftly that he can pass through solid objects like concrete. He showcases remarkable strength and dexterity, and when he touches any object, it begins to vibrate and shatter due to his manipulation of kinetic energy. Given Tommy’s background, this establishes a potential plotline for him in the series Agatha All Along, which follows the developments seen in WandaVision.

In the recent episode of the popular Disney+ series, it became clear that Billy (also known as Wiccan) yearns to find the end of The Witch’s Road. Unlike his mother, Wanda, Billy seeks family rather than power. He shares with Agatha Harkness that he feels Tommy is still alive, though he doesn’t know where he might be. Billy hopes that The Road will lead him to Tommy and enable him to embark on a quest to find his twin brother. At present, it remains unknown how Tommy managed to survive Wanda lifting the hex from Westview. However, considering that William Kaplan’s body was inhabited by Billy’s soul, there’s reason to believe that Tommy could do the same.

Based on what fans have learned about Tommy from the comics, it’s plausible that he has been reborn as Thomas “Tommy” Shepard and could be currently residing in a juvenile detention center. The creators might choose to introduce Tommy under U.S. government custody and use his reunion with Billy as a means to debut the Young Avengers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The identity and whereabouts of Tommy continue to intrigue fans, with the last three episodes of Agatha All Along expected to unveil these secrets. You can catch up on this exciting mystery by streaming Agatha All Along on Disney+.
