Things might heat up, but by employing the right tactics and utilizing some basic beginner advice, you’ll manage to maintain your progress and continue powering through effectively.
How to Survive Your First Nights in Age of Darkness: Final Stand
Final Stand” is a thrilling, dimly lit medieval game set in a chilling atmosphere. It involves tactical decision-making and survival in real-time, combining elements of strategy.
Essentially, you are standing guard, fending off frightening nightmares that seem to emerge from the darkness in groups.
As you delve deeper, these beings grow increasingly tenacious, making it essential for you to construct a resilient settlement, manage your resources wisely, and reinforce your defenses to endure.
It’s not an easy task, particularly when the ‘Death Nights’ occur, and a colossal onslaught of adversaries assails you.
Or more casually: It ain’t a piece of cake, especially during those Death Nights, when a massive horde of enemies comes crashing in.
But with the right moves, you can pull it off.
1. The Sooner You Expand, the Better
The more you expand, the better off you’ll be in Age of Darkness: Final Stand.
Starting early with spreading your impact can make for a more effortless journey as challenges arise.
Send your hero unit to explore and collect nearby resources, including wood, stone, and food.
To maintain a steady supply of resources as your town grows, consider locating timber mills and quarries in areas with high productivity.
Don’t speed through it; focus on placing your structures well.
For example, building in areas rich in trees or stone gives you a solid economic base.
You’ll also want to watch for natural choke points in the environment.
These cramped zones keep the enemy in check while your archers and siege units target them.
2. Don’t Skip the Keep Upgrade
The city runs on your Keep, so upgrading it should be at the top of your list.
The Keep provides extra storage and boosts your gold income, which is key to growing your city.
As a dedicated player, I’d love to upgrade my game experience! This enhancement will unlock robust upgrades for my characters and structures, enhancing my defense against formidable foes.
Delaying the update of your Keep may leave it vulnerable as the strength of the Nightmares continues to grow.
Effectively utilize your resources to speed up the progress of your base, aiming to advance it to the next stage promptly.
With this, you’ll have increased income, more storage, and better defense capabilities.
3. Make Sure Your Resources Never Hit a Dead End
If you handle your resources well, your strategy is already off to a good start.
As I progress through the game, I’ll initially rely on stones and wood for building and upgrading my troops. But as I climb the levels, iron proves to be just as crucial for enhancing both my units and structures.
Build lumber yards near forests and place quarries by stone deposits to stay stocked up.
Keep in mind that there are always better resource nodes to scout as your settlement grows.
If you’re low on food, your villagers won’t be as productive, and your expansion will slow down.
Set up the food huts, but don’t wait too long to turn them into farms.
As you construct more homes, your populace will grow, resulting in a larger workforce and military contingent at your disposal.
Make sure you’re mindful of the remaining storage space you have. If you exhaust your space for resources, production may come to a halt. Upgrade your inventory and storage regularly to prevent this situation.
4. Stack Defenses Like You’re Building a Wall of Steel
With your city constructed, the next step is guarding it against the unending tide of Nightmares.
The first Death Night seems easy enough, but the difficulty increases with each one after.
If you want to last, build strong defenses and put them where they count.
Start by finding narrow spots on the map to funnel enemies and stop them from overwhelming you.
These locations are ideal for setting up walls, towers, and strategically placed archers. It’s beneficial to position your archers within towers for optimal performance, so don’t forget this key detail during placement.
Ballista Towers are perfect for taking out enemies from far away.
However, gates aren’t sturdy, so you might want to skip using them for defense on Death Nights.
Improve your defenses with stronger walls and more towers as you progress.
Having stacked walls and towers up is your best bet when things get intense.
Use your hero smartly during these waves, but don’t let them get wrecked, or you’ll fall behind.
5. Don’t Just Sit There, Explore and Power Up
Don’t expect to get far in Age of Darkness: Final Stand without some exploring.
As you venture through, remember to set up fire torches or any other light sources along the way to prevent new foes from appearing in areas that are not illuminated.
These lights cut down the Death Fog, making it harder for enemies to launch ambushes.
As you wander about, Nightmares will leave behind precious crystals. These crystals play a crucial role in enhancing your troops and granting additional powers to your hero.
But beware, these nightmares are no joke, so if you’re thinking of sending your hero on a solo mission, they might just find themselves overwhelmed by the opposition.
Your hero needs a balanced army to make the most of these power-up hunts.
Don’t forget to scout for better resource deposits and potential for expansion as you explore.
Scarce are iron and sophisticated stones, so you’ll need to venture further afield for their discovery.
