Demonstrating that the U.S. and Denmark can maintain their friendship, the Danish audio brand AIAIAI has collaborated again with the Los Angeles-based creative group Brain Dead, this time revamping the minimalist AIAIAI Tracks headphones in a new way.
This exclusive partnership unites the unique aspects of both brands, blending AIAIAI’s innovative product design with Brain Dead’s distinctive style. AIAIAI’s acclaimed Tracks headphones are an exceptionally lightweight pair of ear enclosures, characterized by a nostalgic minimalism that is rarely found nowadays. The frame, referred to as an “aluminum brace” by the Danish brand, is made from a single, curved piece of aluminum and divided down the middle on each side, creating a sort of “rail system” for easy user customization. This system allows users to slide their ear cups into place, offering a straightforward and adjustable three-piece design with two ways to move them.
These on-ear headphones are connected by a cord, not wireless, and include a standard 3.5mm angled stereo jack cable. Inside, they boast 40mm speaker drivers that AIAIAI claims provide “high-quality sound across the entire frequency spectrum, with a robust bass and clear high notes.
Brain Dead is recognized for its vibrant graphic designs and color schemes, but their Tracks headphones exhibit a more subdued style. Instead of the usual bold colors, they opt for a single, understated golden yellow hue on the adjustable ear-cup foam. This minimalist design continues on the exterior of the ear-cups, where the branding is limited to a tiny printed logo – Brain Dead’s iconic head image – placed atop a transparent plastic cover on each side. The headphones’ frame is made from bare aluminum, and the cable has a natural off-white color.
Co-founder of AIAIAI, Frederik Jorgeson, described the collaboration as a “perfect fit” for them. He expressed great enthusiasm about rekindling their partnership, which was first established in 2018 when they collaborated to create another unique piece of audio technology together.
You can get the AIAIAI x Brain Dead Tracks headphones immediately through HBX, or at the retail stores of both brands.
