Akshay Kumar reveals how wife Twinkle Khanna teases him for his patriotic films and it’s too good: ‘Kitni baar desh ko…’

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has consistently produced a series of films with patriotic themes, ranging from tense action movies to heartwarming real-life depictions. His movie titles such as Baby, Gold, Mission Mangal, Sky Force, Airlift, and Kesari have often seen him portray characters that embody national heroes. In a casual chat, Akshay Kumar disclosed a humorous anecdote, admitting that his wife Twinkle Khanna occasionally teases him about his frequent patriotic roles, jesting about how many times he intends to rescue the nation.

At a recent Republic World gathering, I, an unabashed fanboy, found myself enthralled as Akshay Kumar reminisced about his cinematic odyssey. He proudly pointed out that my beloved Cape of Good Films has been instrumental in steering him towards a plethora of patriotic ventures. In a charming, self-deprecating manner, he shared an amusing anecdote about his wife, the delightful Twinkle Khanna. She often playfully quips, “how many times will you save the country?” after noticing my recurring roles as national saviors, her lighthearted jest adding a touch of humor to our shared passion for India’s well-being.

According to News18, at the same event, the Bade Miyan Chote Miyan actor shared his perspective on the portrayal of heroism in films. He pointed out how Hollywood often depicts the U.S. as the ultimate savior in global crises, whether it’s a terror attack, an alien invasion, or an asteroid catastrophe.

This incident led him to wonder why India wasn’t presented with the same prominence. He stressed that, like other nations, India also possesses the capacity to lead and bring about change.

In his latest movie, “Sky Force,” which has a patriotic theme, Akshay plays an Indian Air Force officer alongside Veer Pahariya. He openly stated that while these films may not always be blockbusters, he creates them more from a deep-seated passion rather than for financial gain.

Additionally, he pointed out that although these movies may only play for a short time in theaters, they frequently gain more viewers once they become available on streaming services post-release.

Moving away from his usual line of patriotic movies, actor Akshay Kumar is set to return to the world of comedy with future ventures like Welcome To The Jungle, Hera Pheri 3, and Bhoot Bangla, ensuring a fun-filled cinematic journey packed with laughter.

In the meantime, the cherished 2007 romantic drama starring him and Katrina Kaif is set to return to cinemas. Excitingly, he announced on Instagram that the movie will be re-released on Holi, which falls on March 14, 2025.
