'Akshay Kumar will find his way,' Khel Khel Mein director Mudassar Aziz on actor’s flop streak; draws comparison with Shah Rukh Khan

As a seasoned observer of the Bollywood scene, I must say that Akshay Kumar’s career is as resilient and versatile as the man himself. With three decades under his belt, he has proven time and again that he is more than just a pretty face or a well-timed one-liner. His foray into comedy with Khel Khel Mein might not have set the Box Office alight, but I see it as a blip on an otherwise stellar trajectory.

Following a series of action and patriotic films, Akshay Kumar has made his way back to the beloved genre of comedy with the movie “Khel Khel Mein.” Lately, the film’s director, Mudassar Aziz, discussed Akshay’s recent string of unsuccessful movies and addressed the moderate Box Office performance of “Khel Khel Mein.” In an interview with The Indian Express, he voiced confidence in Akshay’s career trajectory, assuring that he will find success soon.

During the interview, Mudassar acknowledged that he’s relatively inexperienced compared to Akshay Kumar’s extensive 33-year career journey within the entertainment industry. He emphasized that Kumar consistently demonstrates his star quality and abilities. The director expressed, “Kumar’s mind is thoughtful; he considers many aspects carefully. It’s not that he’s solving a Rubik’s cube in his head, but I believe he is. This is why I say that style may be fleeting, but class endures.”

Aziz pointed out that a similar situation occurred with Shah Rukh Khan in the past, and his string of box office failures spanned around 5 to 7 years as well. However, Mudassar remains confident that Akshay will bounce back from this slump shortly.

In a enthusiastic statement, Khel Khel Mein’s director extolled Akshay Kumar, describing their collaboration as thrilling. “To me, and to countless others throughout the nation,” he continued, “he will forever be recognized as Akshay Kumar.”

Simultaneously, I’d like to avoid revealing any plot details, but Akshay portrays the character of Rishabh, a plastic surgeon in Khel Khel Mein. His relationship with his wife Vartika (performed by Vaani Kapoor) encounters difficulties, leading to a series of humorous misunderstandings.

In a head-to-head competition, Khel Khel Mein has been going toe-to-toe with Stree 2 at the movie theater box office. The film boasts an impressive cast of skilled actors such as Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, and Ammy Virk.
