Ayan Mukerji is experiencing a tough time following the death of his father, Deb Mukherjee, on March 14, 2025. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who enjoy a close relationship with the director of Brahmastra, have returned to Mumbai to offer support. Earlier this week, the couple had taken a brief trip to Alibaug to celebrate Alia’s birthday.
On March 14th, the announcement of Ayan Mukerji’s father, renowned actor Deb Mukherjee’s demise, stirred deep sorrow throughout the Hindi film industry. Within moments, photographs emerged of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, returning to Mumbai, to offer their support during this challenging time for their friend.
In a video captured by photographers, Ranbir Kapoor was spotted carrying his daughter Raha in his arms. Upon noticing the cameras, he returned to Alia Bhatt to shield their child from being photographed. Later, he made his way towards his waiting car, star of Ramayana among them.

A short while ago, news emerged about the passing of Deb Mukherjee, father of director Ayan Mukerji. According to a report on Zoom, his spokesperson confirmed the demise and added that he had been unwell for the past few months. After a struggle with age-related illnesses, he passed away at the age of 83.
Deb Mukherjee gained fame for his performances in films such as Sikandar, Adhikar, and others. His latest appearance was a special role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s highly praised 2009 film Kaminey, which starred Shahid Kapoor.
Speaking personally, I recently accompanied Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor as we set off towards Alibaug, an exciting journey before Alia’s birthday. Yet, their genuine camaraderie was evident when they chose to put a dear friend in need above everything else during difficult times.
Ranbir Kapoor made his debut in Ayan Mukerji’s first directorial film, Wake Up Sid, which was later followed by his role in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Their most recent project together was the release of Brahmastra in 2022, where Alia Bhatt also appeared alongside them.
Moving forward, they are planning to collaborate for Brahmastra Part 2. On a recent interview with the press, Kapoor hinted that an official declaration about the movie is imminent.
