Alia Bhatt’s Jigra box office failure left co-star Vedang Raina ‘broken’; says, ‘I personally had…’

Vedang Raina first appeared on screen as an actor in Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix series The Archies, marking his acting debut. Later, he made his theatrical debut in 2024 with Vasan Bala’s film Jigra, playing Alia Bhatt’s younger brother. In a recent conversation, Vedang shared insights into his career and expressed disappointment over the box office reception of Jigra, stating that it was something he had high hopes for. He explained, ‘I deeply believed in it myself.’

In a chat with Bollywood Hungama, Vedang Raina openly shared that the disappointing performance of the movie “Jigra” left a deep impression on him. He confessed that this outcome was particularly hard for him because he had placed great trust in the project.

As a passionate admirer, I too echoed my understanding and compassion towards the entire squad, acknowledging their tireless efforts. Although the outcome was disheartening, I perceived the ordeal as a priceless learning opportunity, yielding invaluable insights.

Discussing the influence of Jigra on his career, he admitted that he didn’t have any particular career goals while working on it. Instead, he viewed it as a substantial opportunity that came after The Archies, and he put in his utmost effort to make the most of it.

2024’s movie titled “Jigra” is an action-thriller in Hindi, helmed by director Vasan Bala. In this production, Alia Bhatt plays Satya, a resolute woman who embarks on a quest to free her unjustly incarcerated brother, played by Vedang Raina. The story explores the complexities of justice and familial ties, with Mumbai and Singapore serving as its intriguing backdrop.

Upon its release on October 11, 2024, Jigra received mixed reviews.

Initially, Vedang Raina launched his acting journey in the musical drama “The Archies” directed by Zoya Akhtar, which released in 2023. In this production, he took on the role of Reggie Mantle.

The show, modeled after the well-known comic book, included Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Agastya Nanda as its cast members. Raina’s acting skills attracted notice, signaling a bright career ahead in the entertainment field. As for Vedang, he has not yet revealed any details about his upcoming projects.
