Approximately four years after acquiring Pioneer DJ, AlphaTheta recently unveiled their inaugural budget DJ controller under their self-branded label, a move they had previously announced this year.
The latest addition to the DDJ lineup, the DDJ-FLX2, is tailored for novice DJs and serves as Pioneer DJ’s newest budget choice, succeeding the DDJ-FLX4 from 2022. Despite its affordable price, this controller boasts remarkable versatility in terms of both the hardware and software it can accommodate. It works seamlessly with smartphones, tablets, computers, as well as select music streaming platforms like Apple Music through the Algoriddim djay app. Additionally, users have the flexibility to opt for other popular DJ apps such as rekordbox or Serato DJ Lite.
The controller boasts some nifty functions, including Smart CFX and Smart Fader. Smart CFX enables users to produce intricate effects effortlessly by just twisting a knob. On the other hand, Smart Fader takes the hassle out of mixing tracks by automatically adjusting them for optimal speed and sound levels. As the brand explains in their press release, all you need to do is smoothly move the crossfader in one direction, making it easy to blend tracks from various genres, even those with significantly different tempos.
As a gamer, I can tell you firsthand that the DDJ-FLX2 is packed with ports for all sorts of audio setups. There’s a 3.5mm jack for my trusty headphones, another one for speakers if I want to share the fun, and a USB-C port to link up my music source. On top of that, it’s Bluetooth compatible, which is an unexpected bonus at such an affordable price point. This little gem is definitely earning its place in the brand’s lineup!
