After Stargate SG-1 ended in 2007, cast member Amanda Tapping joined forces with longtime SG-1 writer Damian Kindler for the SYFY original series Sanctuary, which is now available on Peacock.
Originally produced as a web series and later acquired by SYFY, the show named “Sanctuary” ran for four seasons from 2008 to 2011. This series revolves around an organization called Sanctuary, which is tasked with investigating mysterious creatures known as “Abnormals.” The head of this Sanctuary is a centuries-old scholar portrayed by Robin D. Tapping, named Dr. Helen Magnus.
40 minutes after reading the pilot script, I immediately called Kindler and exclaimed, “I must take on this role!” (This was recounted in 2014.) We then discussed her appearance and decided to alter her from her Sam Carter character, which led to the complete transformation of her physical appearance. It was a significant responsibility to portray such a powerful female character.
The program features Robin Dunne, known for “Dawson’s Creek,” Emilie Ullerup from “Witchslayer Gretl,” Christopher Heyerdahl of “Van Helsing,” Ryan Robbins, who appeared in “Warcraft,” and Agam Darshi, recognized for “Final Destination 3.

It rode a wave before it was created. I wasn’t interested in hopping on a trend; I wanted to craft something original, as well as draw from various other interests.
