Amazon Prime Video and MGM Studios Join Motion Picture Association

As a gamer with countless hours spent immersed in the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout, I must admit, it’s a thrill to see Amazon, the creative powerhouse behind such captivating content, officially joining forces with the MPA.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that a notable figure is joining the ranks of the Motion Picture Association, the esteemed Hollywood association that advocates for film and television studios.

Amazon is joining the MPA, via its Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios subsidiaries.

As a devoted film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Amazon Studios, known for hit movies like Saltburn and captivating TV shows such as Fallout, has now become part of an esteemed group. This includes industry giants like Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Universal Studios, The Walt Disney Studios, and Warner Bros. Discovery, as well as the relatively newer addition, Netflix, who joined in 2019. It’s an exciting time to be a fan with so many creative powerhouses collaborating!

As a passionate gamer representing my fellow gamers, I stand firm in advocating for our rights. Key areas where I make a significant push include copyright and intellectual property protection, anti-piracy measures, and incentives for content production – all crucial points where technology and entertainment intersect with policy matters.

Charles Rivkin, head of the MPA, expressed in a statement that the addition of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios to our organization amplifies our advocacy for a dynamic industry. This expansion strengthens our collective efforts in shaping policies and safeguarding content, particularly for trailblazing and visionary companies. The MPA’s studios are integral to local economies, stimulate employment, enhance cultural diversity, and uplift communities where they operate. With Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios now part of our esteemed membership, the MPA will carry a stronger voice for the world’s foremost storytellers.

Amazon’s goal is to captivate global audiences with engaging movies and TV shows. To achieve this, we need to foster storytellers and maintain a thriving entertainment industry that benefits both production studios and our creative collaborators,” said Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios. “We are honored to align ourselves with the MPA and its studio members in their shared mission to safeguard creators, content, and consumers worldwide.

As a devoted admirer, I’m proud to share that Amazon has been associated with the Motion Picture Association (MPA) in the past, serving as a key member on the governing board of their anti-piracy group, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), since 2017. Interestingly, MGM was also a part of the MPA family from 1928 to 2005.
