Amazon Won’t Let Some of You Buy a Switch 2 till After Launch

As a dedicated gamer, I’m super pumped about the imminent arrival of the Switch 2! The anticipation is high, and everybody’s eager to grab this new console. However, while outlets like Amazon might seem like potential sources, they might not be much help in this case. It’s a bummer, but it seems we may have to wait longer for Nintendo’s latest system. This delay could really rile up some of us hardcore gamers.

Fans became frustrated when Nintendo announced they would handle early pre-orders exclusively through their invite system. The selection for pre-order relies on your hours spent with Nintendo Switch Online and overall gameplay time, which many find irritating. Given that various Switch models have been purchased over the years, resetting game time, it’s understandable that consumers are justifiably annoyed.

Amazon’s approach isn’t significantly superior. Interested customers can apply for an invitation to preview and pre-order the Switch 2, as many are eager to secure this device. However, there’s no guarantee that you’ll receive an invitation. If fortunate enough to get one, fans will have to pre-order the system using the link provided by Amazon within a timeframe of 22 hours.

If players aren’t selected through Amazon’s invitation system, they’ll have to hold off on pre-ordering the Switch 2 until July. Essentially, if you’re not part of their complex selection process, you’ll be waiting an extra three months. We get that there’s high anticipation for this new console, but making fans wait that long seems unfair.

It’s understandable why Amazon and Nintendo are being cautious about pre-orders for Switch 2, as scalpers have been purchasing these consoles in large quantities and reselling them at a premium. Some customers, eager to own the system, have unwittingly paid inflated prices. In an effort to simplify console purchases, Nintendo has promised to improve the process, but their actions may unintentionally complicate matters for regular consumers.

Given the potential wait time for obtaining one, many enthusiasts are merely hoping to try and secure one within the next year or two. These classic games such as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza aren’t likely to disappear anytime soon.
